Gogglebox star snaps back over 'weight loss transformation' with angry 5-word comment

Former Gogglebox star Kate Bottley once hit out at fans who commented on her weight loss with a surprising five-word comment after she unveiled a glamorous transformation during the Coronavirus lockdown. Celebrity cleric Rev Kate appeared on the Channel 4 series of popular TV series Gogglebox with husband Graham from 2014 until she left the show in 2016.

Kate now regularly keeps her fans updated on social media, and in one post a few years back, she shared a snap of herself in a beautiful pink maxi-dress. Goggleboxers were used to seeing Kate in her vicar’s robe so they were thrilled to see her all dressed up.

Kate shared some gorgeous snaps of her vintage frocks from the garden but admitted she'd been dressing up just to do the food shop at Aldi during lockdown. At the time, she also reflected on new things she'd started doing during the unusual time.

Kate told her followers: "Things I now have that I didn’t have before: Long nails, A defrosted freezer, Reading glasses. A habit of cooked breakfasts and Sunday lunch, A sewing box, Plucked eyebrows, A passion for polyester maxi dresses. It appears lockdown has turned me into my mother circa 1973 #newnormal."

After posting snaps of her new outfits, vicar Kate was flooded with compliments, but she asked fans not to comment on her weight loss. It appeared she was disappointed after the photos triggered an outpouring of compliments over her “weight loss” from some of her 119,000 followers.

"Gosh, you are so slim and lovely in that [dress]," wrote one. Bottley replied: "I know you think you’re being kind, but comments about weight aren’t OK. 'Slim' isn’t necessarily healthier or more beautiful.

"I also don’t like anyone talking about my weight." To another fan, she replied: "If it’s OK with you, I’d rather you didn’t talk about my weight."

Another fan commented: "You've lost weight." So Kate made sure she told her follower she was unhappy about her weight being discussed. She said: "If it’s ok with you, I’d prefer it if you didn’t comment on my weight.
