Coronation Street's Alan Halsall, known for playing Tyrone Dobbs, has spoken out about his single life for the first time since splitting from long-term girlfriend Tisha Merry, who played Steph Britton on the soap.

The former couple met on the set of the soap and began a relationship in 2018, but it was revealed they had parted ways in February this year. They have both remained quiet on the split and single life since the announcement, but Alan appeared to confirm how he was feeling in a social media post this week.

Taking to Instagram this week, the actor shared a video of a moment with his daughter Sienna-Rae and a dog as they enjoyed some time outside - sharing that the furry friend was a 'new best friend'. However, the pup then tried to hump the soap star, leading to Alan quipping: "Apparently we're not best friends. Most action I've had in a while ffs fml."

He then posted another snap in the dog's company, writing: "New Tinder profile picture", hinting he is ready to dive back into the dating pool.

Alan shares his daughter with Hollyoaks star Lucy-Jo Hudson, who he was married to for nine years from 2009 to 2018.

Back in February, Alan and Tisha's split was revealed by The Sun, with a source telling the newspaper: “Alan and Tisha had a lot of love for each other and had really similar interests, enjoying socialising and going on holiday together. But they started to drift apart and feel the pressure of making their relationship work get on top of them.

“They realised they weren’t on the same page and splitting up felt like the best option. They’ve been focusing on themselves and surrounding themselves with their own friends.”

Prior to dating, the couple had started off as friends and even became yoga buddies after hitting it off on set. As romance blossomed between the pair, Tisha later moved into Alan’s home and everything between the pair seemed to be going well. However, it was reported that she moved out of his Manchester abode following the split.

Alongside embracing single life, Alan has also been busy recovering from reconstructive surgery on his ACL, which he underwent in November following an injury. Following the surgery, Alan took a break from Coronation Street and returned to filming in January.

He is continuing to work on getting back to full strength and has been regularly clips on Instagram of his rehab sessions.
