Coronation Street star Rob Mallard has opened up about his health condition - one that he fears isgetting worse and could even potentially end his career on the famous cobbles.

Rob, 32, has risen to fame after joining Corrie as Daniel Osbourne, the son of Ken Barlow, since 2016. Now, Rob has opened up about the health battle that could potentially cut his acting career short.

Rob suffers from essential tremor, a progressive neurological condition that causes shaking which the star has confessed is slowly getting worse. And during a recent interview, he confessed that in terms of his acting career, it could well put an end to it.

Speaking to the Mirror about his condition, Rob confessed his fears that his condition could eventually stop him from doing what he loves.

“In the last 10 years it has become a lot more pronounced and if it follows that trajectory in my personal life it’s going to be difficult and annoying. Professionally it could be career-ending.

“It has been suggested that Coronation Street wrap it into the character, which I’m not averse to, but I’d rather not do that now. I don’t want it to pigeonhole me.”

During the interview, Rob also revealed he has mastered techniques that help him on set that include practising certain actions over and over again. Or making sure he’s drinking something that’s not full to the top.

Rob’s condition has worsened so much in the last 10 years, he says, that it now affects his ‘hands, arm and neck’ - and revealed people sometimes mistakenly believe he's been drinking.

Now, Rob has declared he’s overcome his ‘embarrassment’ about his condition and is working with the National Tremor Foundation, in order to raise awareness about it.

In Corrie, Rob’s character, Daniel, has reunited with his old flame Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) after his romance with Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) fell apart.

In real-life, Rob had dated co-star Daniel Brocklebank (who plays Billy Mayhew). The couple dated briefly and even saw Rob mention Daniel while collecting a British Soap Award.

Rob said in his acceptance speech: "Even though this is fantastic, Dan, you’re the best thing I’ve ever taken home.”

Unfortunately, despite having a good rapport and showing clear chemistry, the relationship wasn’t sustainable as the pressures of dating and working together placed too much of a strain on their budding romance.

Thankfully, since splitting, the couple have continued to remain close friends and Rob has since gone public with his new boyfriend, Matthew Martin, who he went official with last year.
