Byker Grove star Terry Joyce passes away as colleagues lead tributes

Tributes are pouring in from celebrities, friends and fans alike following the sad announcement of actor and comedian Terry Joyce's death. Terry was a familiar face on many TV shows and hailed from South Tyneside.

He once appeared on the hit BBC series Byker Grove, joining as Gerry in the 1990s after previous roles in Super Gran and Jimmy Nail's popular programme, Spender, which aired from 1991-199

Terry had an impressive roster of credits, including the fire brigade drama Steel River Blues, Badger with Jerome Flynn, and more recently, the hit BBC sitcom Hebburn. In Hebburn, the star played the role of a solicitor and acted alongside Chris Ramsey, Gina McKee, Vic Reeves and Jason Cook. Additionally, Terry was a beloved figure on the North East's comedy circuit.

Terry's cause of death has not been shared publicly. An outpouring of tributes filled social media when news of Terry's death surfaced on Saturday. Radio presenter Paul 'Goffy' Gough took to Facebook to say: "Sad news today re the passing of the lovely Terry Joyce. A lovely lad and a fabulous comedian. Terry worked with the very best and they loved working with him. A huge loss to the North East and beyond. Rest in peace Terry and thanks for the many laughs."

Comedian Sue Sweeney wrote: "So very sad to hear the news of the passing of one of the great North East Comedians and my Friend Terry Joyce, he was such a lovely man with the most incredible humour. Fly high Terry you gave us so many laughs.”

Another heartfelt tribute on Facebook stated: "R.I.P a true hebburn lad ,a good friend and will be a huge miss keep cracking those jokes Terry Joyce."

Fellow funny-man Gary Marshall penned: "Sleep well, mate! Worked with Terry Joyce for the 1st time at Harehills WMC in the 90s , laughed long and hard!!! A real Comedians comedian."

Another wrote: "Just heard of the passing of Terry Joyce. A genuinely nice bloke who also happened to be a stalwart on the comedy club scene from the Social Clubs. Always had a laugh and story to share. Travel Well Terry." The star's exact cause of death is not currently known.
