Yuhan Wang Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear: Elle Woods Goes to Supreme Court

Yuhan Wang had great fun with her fall 2024 collection.

The playfulness and confidence came through as models wearing broad-shouldered civil robes reimagined with see-through laces and hairdos in between a barrister’s wig and how a Victorian ingénue would style herself walked down the runway to music that was with Elle Woods’ famous lines in “Legally Blonde.”

Wang said she wanted to pay homage to leading female figures in the legal system, such as Rose Heilbron, Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who fought against gender discrimination and brought style to the U.S. Supreme Court during her time.

“These influential icons in justice not only pushed the culture forward but also empowered women to advocate for righteousness,” Wang said.

She proposed dramatic shapes inspired by courtroom attire, like a wide cloak in vegan leather, a poplin shirt with an oversize collar and a lace dress with over-the-top shoulders. But there were smart tailored jackets, frayed two-piece sets and elegant tweed numbers fit for the courtroom as well.

Wang retained her sexy and sweet hyperfeminine aesthetic with adorable motifs of rose and horse ceramic sculpture.
