Glastonbury cancelled in 2026 as Eavis family issue major update

Glastonbury chiefs have confirmed that the festival will not take place in 2026.

The decision has been made to allow for a fallow year to "give the land a rest", according to organiser Emily Eavis.

This means that after the festival concludes next year, fans will have to wait two years for its return.

Organiser Emily Eavis, 44, daughter of founder Michael Eavis, 88, told The Sun: "[It will] give the land a rest. The festival before a fallow year is always a fun one to plan, because you almost have to fit two years into one." She added: "We're already in talks with some acts for it. It's exciting!"

However, Emily's main focus remains on this year's success, which saw stars such as Maya Jama and Stormzy soaking up the festival vibes and packing on the PDA on Friday 28 June, and Princess Beatrice partying till 2am at the VIP bar.

The final day of Glastonbury 2024 was in full swing as excitement mounted for the main event. Country pop queen Shania Twain graced Glastonbury's esteemed 2023 Legends Slot and Sunday evening saw SZA perform on the iconic Pyramid Stage.

Emily added: "I really would like to say thank you to everyone who's made this year so special. It's got to be the best one yet. Every single one of our vast, incredible crew is crucial to making this event work."

"And, of course, it simply wouldn't exist without the participation of the kind, brilliant, respectful festival-goers. I think people here show a better way to live, and that they do take a little bit of that back to the outside world with them."

"It honestly restores your faith in humanity."

This comes after Dua Lipa graced the iconic Pyramid Stage for her much-anticipated Friday headline performance, and she shared with the massive crowd of 100,000 fans a heartfelt revelation about her journey to stardom. She expressed, "I've written this moment down and wished for it and dreamt of it and worked so hard."

However, despite her passionate performance, some viewers at home raised eyebrows, suggesting that the pop sensation might have been miming her hits.

A viewer took to social media to express their disbelief, posting: "Can you believe anyone headlining Glastonbury would lip-sync the whole show? Shocking!".

The Sun on Sunday shed light on an unfortunate technical hiccup, reporting that Dua had encountered a sound delay which affected the BBC's broadcast of her set on certain services.

But while toasting her Glastonbury success with boyfriend Callum at a VIP bar, Dua was asked what she thought about claims she was miming during her performance on Friday night (28 June). She denied the accusations.

"I don't mime," the 28 year old singer defiantly told The Mail on Sunday.
