Where to find the Princess of Wales’s Christmas looks on the high street
After a difficult year, the Princess of Wales remains the perfect muse for festive dressing, as she demonstrated with joyful aplomb when hosting her fourth annual Together at Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey recently.
From snowy white outfits, to touches of tartan, the Princess has ticked all the best Christmas trend boxes over the years. We’ve broken down five of her key looks and show how you can achieve them for your own winter celebrations this year.
Winter white
An all-white outfit gives the illusion of being expensive and put together, but can actually rather effortlessly create an elegant bold look. Last year the Princess looked chic in a white Christmastime look, pairing a long tailored coat, high-waisted suit trousers and a winter essential, the white jumper. She elevated the monochromatic look with white earrings, pointed heels and a simple small purse.
When looking to craft your own all white look, start with the basics. Every wardrobe has that staple white tee. Coupling that with white wash jeans or a wool skirt and a white heeled boot can be the easiest way to achieve a pop of winter white in a casual scenario. Or take inspiration from Catherine’s white accessories, frosty earrings, bags and nails can add an instant cool to your winter look. Pair your winter white look with a bold red lip or some bold gold statement pieces so as not to read as a wash out.

Christmas cardigan
Last year while visiting the East Anglia Children’s Hospice the Princess showcased the perfect Christmas cardigan, proof that a knit can look both festive and stylish. Luxury women’s fashion brand, Chinti and Parker, founded in London by Anna Singh and Rachael Wood – they’re cousins and self-professed knitwear obsessives – know exactly how to do Christmas just right.
Racheal suggests moving away from traditional Christmas prints: “The bow cardigan is a versatile layering piece that works beautifully year-round. For a polished look, wear it with a cream silk blouse and tailored trousers, or skirt. For a more relaxed feel, it’s also great with denim and a white tee.”
Not a fan of bows? Try going folksy, a Norwegian print on a chunky cardigan, paired with some straight leg dark wash jeans can be the perfect outfit for your festivities as well as a staple outfit for the winter months.

Tartan
Tartan can be a tricky textile to style – the wrong pairings and it can give you flashbacks to school. But as Rosalyn Wikeley, founder of travel and style hub House of Bashka, explains; “Tartan seems to be having a moment, from cult brand Le Kilt to the heritage Scottish brands such as Begg & Co, Johnstons of Elgin and Araminta Campbell reinventing their traditional prints for more modern cuts, the fashion industry and a vast array of sartorial tribes can’t seem to get enough of the clan cloth.
You can either go down the traditional track and don a tartan dress or Clueless-style kilt, or you can subvert it a little, à la Vivienne Westwood, with a tartan shawl flung over a leather jacket, a long tartan skirt with biker boots or a cool tartan-printed quilted coat.
One of my favourite looks is a long wool tartan skirt worn with heeled boots and an oversized cashmere jumper that pulls out one strand of the tartan colour.” That long wool tartan skirt and heeled boots combination is a favourite of the Princess’, having first worn it back in 2018.

Mulled wine matching
Burgundy tonal outfits are perfect for winter – this is mulled wine season after all. The Princess perfectly executed the tonal look at the carol service two years ago.
Her burgundy dress is the centre piece of the look, elevated with gloves, a clutch and shoes that follow the tone. That warm sensual shade is a great canvas for layering accessories, from gold jewellery to pearls. Try a burgundy satin midi skirt, paired with boots and the classic crimson Christmas nails or lip.

Big bows
Bows at Christmas are always a staple, whether it be on dresses, jumpers, shoes or in your hair. Back in 2021, the Princess achieved her festive look with a statement bow at the front of a red long sleeve midi, enhancing an otherwise plain dress. Dresses are the simplest piece to try this trend with.
Whether it be a statement bow or a more subtle one found in the wrap or tie of the dress, it can add a festive touch to simple silhouette. Bows can also elevate a simple jeans and jumper look – try a pair of kitten heels with bows or simply put on some festive bow earrings.
