Where The Holiday cast are now from tragic death to spat with Vernon Kay
Arguably one of the best festive chick flick movies with some of the best actors, The Holiday is many people’s favourite annual Christmas movie.
Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz and Jude Law star in the film which follows the lives of LA-based movie producer Amanda and Surrey-based Iris, who decide to swap homes over the Christmas holidays, after both experienced disaster in their love lives. Amanda meets Iris' brother Graham (Jude), with whom she falls in love, whilst Iris forms a firm friendship with Miles (Jack Black) - although it's not clear if the relationship is romantic.
The movie ends with the foursome enjoying a wholesome Christmas with Graham's two daughters at his home in England. Now, 18 years on, let's take a look at what the cast has been up to since the first movie debuted 17 years ago.

Miffy Englefield
23 year olf Miffy Englefield played the adorable role of Jude Law’s young daughter in the movie. The star has since stepped away from acting and now works as a barista.
In 2020 Miffy became a mum herself when she gave birth to her daughter Frankie. She later revealed to The Sun that she had a complicated birth where she was in labour for 21 hours.
While she has seemingly stepped away from acting, she has fond memories of filming the hit Christmas movie. Last year she told The New York Times: "Jude had so much time for us. He was always giving me tips about acting."
Cameron Diaz
Cameron Diaz is one of the biggest Hollywood names in the movie and has since appeared in Bad Teacher and played the role of Miss Hannigan in the 2014 remake of Annie.
The star is married to Good Charlotte singer Benji Madden and had her first child when she was 47 years old. She has reportedly now retired from acting to spend more time with her family.
Her pal, Selma Blair, told reporters she was “done” with the film industry at the Vanity Fair post-Oscars bash in 2018. Selma said: "I had lunch with Cameron the other day. We were reminiscing about the film. I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron’s retired from acting. She’s like ‘I’m done'.”
Jack Black
Jack Black played soundtrack composer Miles in The Holiday which was a role written for him after the movie director Nancy Meyers saw him in School of Rock. Jack Black has since gone on to appear in Kung Fu Panda, Tropic Thunder and the Jumanji remakes, making himself a household name.
While the actor is loved by many fans, last year TV presenter Vernon Kay revealed a secret and unlikely feud between the pair. The former Family Fortunes presenter recalled when he was younger and starting out in his career, he interviewed Jack, who he described as “horrible”.
Vernon said: "I don’t know whether he’d had a hangover or whether it was because I was either the first or last interview of the day, but he was horrible. He was an absolute d**k, an a******e.
"When you’re so rude, arrogant and pig-faced to a young TV presenter, who’s so nervous and trying to hone his skills, and you’re so arrogant to dismiss that, it’s just not on. I hope he reads it, and let this be a lesson to Jack Black."
Jude Law
English heartthrob Jude Law’s role in The Holiday is one of his most well-known acting roles. He played Iris’s brother Graham who managed to charm Cameron Diaz’s character, as well as viewers. He has since starred in the Fantastic Beasts films as Dumbledore, as well as Sherlock Holmes and Sky Atlantic series The Young Pope.
The actor went on to have six children, he shares three with his ex-wife Sadie Frost, a daughter with his ex-partner Samantha Burke, and another daughter with Catherine Harding. He most recently welcomed his sixth child in 2020 with Dr Phillipa Coen after he tied the knot in 2019.
Eli Wallach
Eli Wallach played the role of Arthur in The Holiday who forms a sweet bond with Kate Winslet. He sadly passed in 2014 when he was 98 years old due to natural causes.
The actor was known for his roles in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, alongside Clint Eastwood, and for playing Calvera in The Magnificent Seven. His last acting role was in 2010 when he played opposite Pierce Brosnan in Ghost Writer.
Edward Burns
Edward Burns played the role of Cameron Diaz’s frustrated boyfriend in The Holiday and before that, he was known for his roles in Saving Private Ryan and TV series Will and Grace. He married supermodel Christy Turlington in 2003.
Shannyn Sossamon
Shannyn Sossamon played the role of Miles’s wannabe actress girlfriend Maggie who he eventually dumps after finding out she had lied to him.
Shannyn went on to feature in TV series Sleepy Hollow before she took a step back from the limelight after becoming a mum. She told Nylon: "I like to look at the birth of my first son as a blessing of course, and he’s just the joy of my life and my soulmate. I can't imagine life without him, so it’s weird to think the other way. He completely grounded me and made me look at myself, and my life just became completely different. It was just a gift, and perfect timing, too."
John Krasinski
John Krasinski, now 43 years old and happily married to Emily Blunt, only had a small role in The Holiday as Amanda’s employee Ben. When he featured in the movie, he had already filmed one season of The Office US, which went on to be a huge success with viewers. He has since starred in The Quiet Place films with his wife and starred in his own action series Jack Ryan.
The Holiday is available to stream on Netflix and is also on Channel 5 on Christmas Eve at 11.15am
