An outfit worn by a guest at a wedding has sparked a negative reaction from the bride.

In a post on Reddit’s "Am I the A------" forum, a woman shared that the outfit she wore to a friend's wedding left the bride upset.

“I ha[d] actually never attended a wedding before in my life, and I don’t tend to dress up or put on makeup … I was really excited when I got the invite, saved up, and went to a shop I know carries my size (I’m fairly tall),” she explained.

“The clerk … chose a selection of dresses that would be wedding appropriate that weren’t close to what the bridal party would be wearing,” the woman continued in the post.

She said she eventually ended up going got “a beautiful dark green silk bias-cut dress with matching heels for the wedding.

The woman recalled at the wedding receiving “several compliments on my outfit” while the bride “ignore[d]” her which she found “weird.”

She said she didn’t realize what caused the bride’s reaction until weeks later when she caught up with the newlyweds over dinner after returning from their honeymoon.

“During the dinner [the bride] kept making snipes at me about what I wore, just incredibly passive-aggressive,” she recalled. “It was very clear she thought I overdressed. I didn’t say anything at the time because I felt terrible.”

The distraught guest said that “none of my friends corrected or stopped her either" — making her feel even worse about the situation. “She didn’t give me the benefit of the doubt and I don’t feel like my dress was over the top,” she added.
