Waterloo Road star Katie Griffiths gives birth to baby boy as she shares first pic and name
Waterloo Road star Katie Griffiths has given birth to her first child.
The actress, best known for playing Chlo Grainger in the BBC One series, announced the happy news on Instagram as she shared a snap of her newborn son.
Announcing his lovely name, she wrote: "Welcome to the world Cassius. After 10 months of waiting, we’re so happy to finally meet you.
"I’ve been quite unsure if I would post photos of him on my Instagram so this may well be one of the only ones.
"But after 10 months of sharing pregnancy photos it seemed only fair to post the result."
Her husband joked in the comments section: "S**t I thought we were going with Zeus! Might have slightly mixed this up at the registry office."
Delighted fans rushed to send their congratulations as one fan said: "Ahhhh!! Congratulations to you both, welcome to the world Cassius."
Another wrote: "Congratulations to you all. Cassius is a lovely name", while a third commented: "Congrats Katie he’s beautiful (was gonna call u chlo for a moment)."
Little Cassius is Katie's first child with husband Matthew Wardle.
The TV star had shared a snap of herself heavily pregnant on 30 May and appeared to say that her baby boy was overdue.
Alongside a snap of herself and Matthew, as he cradled her bump, the actress wrote: "Well if he’s going to be stubborn and not be on time then I’m off to the theatre! Experienced huge amounts of nostalgia and talent last night @mjthemusicaluk. Put simply everyone involved showed how to make a mind blowing piece of musical theatre and what a back catalog of music material they had to work with! Genuinely don’t know where to start with @myles.frost ……..I’m shook…..send help….too much talent, nope, can’t."
Katie announced her pregnancy back in December last year as she shared a sweet photograph of her pet dog Pippa sitting next to a book titled 'How to Still Get Treats When The Humans are Having a Baby' along with a snap of her blossoming baby bump.
The mum-to-be penned: "Baby Wardle coming May 2024," alongside a red heart emoji, as her followers flocked to congratulate her and wish her well.
Katie was just 17 years old when she joined the cast of Waterloo Road in 2006 and she remained on the show until 2009.
She then reprised her role in the 2023 reboot of the BBC One show, however her character Chlo was tragically killed off in the first episode, leaving behind husband Donte Charles (Adam Thomas) and their two young children.
