Vernon Kay's daughters issue ban over 'childish habit'
Vernon Kay is set to co-host The National Lottery’s New Year’s Eve Big Bash with Fleur East, promising a "mind-blowing" show as they welcome 2025. The pre-recorded special will feature performances from stars like Craig David, Olly Alexander, Perrie, KSI, and Ella Henderson at the Ovo Arena in Wembley.
"It’s a big celebration, a big look back, a big rewind – great music and a great atmosphere at the Ovo Arena in Wembley," Vernon shared with The Mirror's We Love TV. "We’ll also have Cirque du Soleil performers there, which is quite a nice twist. When you see the strength and stamina of those performers, it’s something to behold."
After his panto performance in High Wycombe on New Year's Eve, Vernon plans to celebrate with his family, including his wife Tess Daly of Strictly Come Dancing fame, their daughters Phoebe and Amber, Vernon's parents and Tess's mum. Despite being a DJ on his BBC Radio 2 show, Vernon admits that his daughters will be in charge of the music at home.

"The music is well and truly in their control," he said. Vernon also joked about his daughters banning fireworks. "My daughters have banned fireworks because I spend too much money on them," he said. "I do a firework display like a child."
Vernon Kay is all about embracing a youthful spirit as he approaches the new year, revealing his unique approach to life: "I wake up every morning and just pretend I’m 19," he shared. "I didn’t have any responsibilities when I was 19. I loved going out, I loved working – and when you wake up with that, ‘Come on, let’s do it,’ mindset, I think it suits you. My personal situation has changed with kids, but if you attack the day like you did when you were 19, you can’t go wrong."
Earlier in the year, Vernon opened up about his ambitions beyond British shores during a candid chat with Annie McManus on her podcast 'Changes'. He expressed a desire to take another shot at fame in the US, reflecting on his past experiences: "Well, flippantly, I'd like another crack at America because I think I messed up. I did three network shows for America. I wouldn't say I messed that up. I think looking back, I was inexperienced," he confessed.
He continued optimistically, "I think, knowing, being more confident in myself and the way I work, I'd like another go at a game show in America. That's a big change."
The National Lottery's New Year's Eve Big Bash airs on New Year's Eve at 5:45pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
