Two Corrie lovers reunited again as their hit drama gets two more series
Catherine Tyldesley and Shayne Ward will be returning for two more series of The Good Ship Murder, it has been confirmed.
Shayne, 38, and, Catherine 40 previously played star-crossed lovers Aidan Connor and Eva Price on Coronation Street, and fans of the pair will get to see them on screens again as they reprise their roles on The Good Ship Murder, with Catherine playing First Officer Kate Woods, and Shayne portraying former detective Jack Grayling.
The show is set aboard a luxury cruise ship, but as a string of murders occur, Cath and Shayne's characters set out to solve them. The first episode from the eight-part series will be premiering on Channel 5 at 9pm on Friday 13th October.
Claire Sweeney, who is currently starring in Coronation Street, will return as the cruise director, whilst Hollyoaks' Ross Adams will also have a role.
The Sun reports that Mike Benson, from makers Clapperboard, said: “Series one was something of a journey – or mid-price cruise – into the unknown, not least trying to film a drama on a cruise ship with 6,000 holidaymakers heading to eight different countries.”
C5 exec Paul Testar added: “We’re excited to be bringing this series back.”
As news emerged that The Good Ship Murder is coming back, fans couldn't contain their excitement, as they rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment.
One said: "Eva and Aidan reunited! #Corrie #TheGoodShipMurder," while a second wrote: "Aidan and Eva reunited. I can't cope," adding some love heart emojis for good measure.
A third gushed: "Gonna be watching this, I think.. loved Aidan and Eva in Corrie & Shayne and Catherine's chemistry is brilliant. Can't wait to see them in another show together!"
Another fan said: "Corrie fans like me who loved Eva and Aidan & were saddened by their tragic ending, we get to see their awesome portrayers work together again in their new show #TheGoodShipMurder I am so happpyyyyy."
Cath and Shane's characters on Corrie faced many-a hardship, with the actors often embroiled in difficult storylines including, including Aidan's affair with Maria Connor and Eva's faking a pregnancy, which she did as an act of revenge for him cheating on her.
Later, Eva actually did get pregnant with Aidan's child, but she decided not to tell him, and instead fled the Street. Aidan then saw his factory, the Underworld, destroyed, leaving him homeless.
He tragically went on to take his own life following the birth of his child, leaving Eva devastated.
