Why Trinny London's Miracle Blur has been a staple in my make-up bag for years

It smooths the appearance of pores and lines, and is worth every penny.

I've been a big fan of Trinny London since it first launched in 2017, and the Miracle Blur primer is by far my favourite and is one of my holy grail products. I'm all for reducing my make-up bag to be as small and fuss-free as possible, and Trinny's stackable, cream-based pots are the perfect solution if you're looking to downsize on products, without compromising on quality.

Quick overview

There's a huge range of Trinny London products that I can't get enough of, from the blendable Eye2Eye cream eyeshadows to the multi-tasking Lip2Cheek tints for a subtle wash of colour, but one product that's so good I have to immediately repurchase when my pot is running low is the brand's Miracle Blur.

This little pink pot may not look like much, but it contains a smoothing, skin-blurring primer that makes a noticeable improvement to fine lines and excess oiliness.

💸 Reason to buy

It has been a part of my own routine for over two years and it's a brilliant multi-tasker that has over 300 rave reviews from shoppers. One loyal customer said "this little miracle pot fills my fine lines on forehead and sides of lips, they completely disappear", while another added "It is the best product I have purchased in a long time. It really works on fine lines, and at my age it's perfect!"

The translucent formula softens and blurs the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores and acne scars. It also has a mattifying, satin texture which is translucent so there's no colour, meaning you don't need to worry about shade matching as it suits all skin tones.

I like to apply a small amount of the colour-free formula with my finger under my eyes, over and around my nose before putting on make-up to create a texture-free, super soft and smooth base.

Along with creating the perfect canvas for make-up application, I find it's also useful to make your products last longer. For example, if you dap a small amount around your lips before applying lipstick (I'm a big fan of a bold lippie), it stops the colour from smearing, smudging or bleeding, keeping you looking polished and put together for longer.

Application tips:

  • To apply: Take a pea-sized amount and warm it between your fingers for the best results

  • Before make-up: Press into your skin to blur pores and create a smooth base

  • Over make-up: Gently press over foundation to smooth fine lines

It can also be pressed over foundation to smooth fine lines and provide touch-ups, especially if you've been wearing make-up all day and find it sinking into those lines and areas you don’t want.

Reasons to avoid

As much as I love it, it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the price. For a four-gram pot of product, it will set you back £28 at full price. You can find primers much cheaper, but I’ve tried a ton, and this one remains my go-to.

A little does go a long way, though, so I’ve found it lasts up to six months. If you use it every day, on average, that would equate to 14p per day. The upfront cost is high, but the cost-per-wear is much lower. Trinny London rarely does discounts, but it is always worth checking to see if they do have a rare flash sale (usually with 10% discount).
