Total cash prize BBC Traitors final winners will earn as contestants set for record amount

The winner or winners of BBC series The Traitors could be set for a record cash prize if they play their cards right in the final tonight (January 24).

It is finally time for the hit reality game show's dramatic finale after plenty of twists and turns. There's been betrayals aplenty and more than two dozen contestants have been narrowed down to just five in Alexander, Charlotte, Francesca, Leanne and Jake.

Just one Traitor remains amongst them after Charlotte was recruited but almost immediately turned on her new sisterhood partner Minah to see her banished. She then recruited Freddie, only to set him up for a brutal Round Table vote after failing to share she knew Leanne had a shield, protecting her from murder. Information she was also aware Freddie hadn't been informed of.

Charlotte faces an uphill battle to claim the entire pot for herself however, as it was revealed in the penultimate episode that Francesca had earned the power to find out her true identity. Viewers were made to wait for her reaction and what she will do with the information.

It could mean that the Faithfuls are still in with a chance of sharing the money between them. Ahead of the final episode, the total prize pot is £73,600. Based on previous finals, there will be one last mission that can top up the fund.

It's yet to be revealed how much more could be added but the maximum prize amount when the show started was £120,000. This means viewers could witness a record for the most won in a final to date.

In series one, Faithfuls Hannah Byczkowski, Meryl Williams and Aaron Evans all claimed the prize. They shared £101,050 between them. Hannah said she would spend her prize money on a car while Meryl said she would be spending her money on changing her career path as she hoped to become a TV presenter. Aaron said he would give his winnings to his mum for a deposit on a house.

It was Traitor Harry who managed to fool everyone and take home the entire pot for himself following the second series. He claimed £95,150 but could Charlotte end up beating this amount?

As for how he spent his newfound wealth, Harry admitted in May last year that he had helped his family with their debt but hadn't actually spent a penny himself. Instead he was taking wise advice from his parents to help it last.

The Traitors concludes tonight at 8.30pm on BBC One and iPlayer
