Teacher has people in stitches after admitting plan to avoid using student's 'awful' name
A primary school teacher has revealed the "genius" fib she concocted to her headteacher to avoid having to utter a student's "royal inspired" name. Picking the ideal name for a child is an arduous, monumental feat – a name can impact a person's impression, so it's crucial to opt for one that will appropriately fit them from babyhood to their later years.
For some parents, the uniqueness of a name stands as their foremost priority, which sometimes leads to children receiving highly inventive names. On the flip side, this quest for originality can also give rise to nonsensically spelt variations of standard, time-honoured names or monikers that outright ignore the principles of phonics.
Some of the more unconventional names often end up being mocked online, with people taking to social media to share their frustration and amusement with the choices some parents have opted for.

This seemed to be the case for one school worker who took to Reddit to share a name they’re particularly unimpressed with. They simply penned: “I work in an elementary school… I have seen so many. The restraint I have shown thus far is amazing but… Ya’Hyniss”.
One person replied: “That's a travesty.” While someone else said: “I couldn’t call them that. I see a nickname in their future.”
But another was inspired to share the name that prompted them to lie to their employer, all so they didn’t have to say it regularly. The educator explained: “I'm British and a former 5th grade teacher in the US. There was a 4th grader at my school whose name was Ya'Majestie.
“I told my principal that she couldn't be on my roster the following year because I couldn't call anyone that who wasn't part of the royal family, though of course the reality was that I couldn't call anyone that without massively rolling my eyes. She bought it, but fortunately the family moved before the end of the year, so it was a moot point.”
Impressed, another Reddit user replied: “GENIUS. What an awful name, that poor child.” Another expressed shock that the headteacher fell for the ruse: “The fact that she bought it is what's killing me”.
Other people weighed in with their experiences and opinions. One said: “I worked in elementary schools for 20 years. I saw many ridiculous names over the years but “Loushus” was the worst.”
Another commented: “In my school we have had a few “good” ones as well.. Prophet, Loyalty, and LeJend are a few off the top of my head. Oh, and of course Princess and Naveah. These poor kids.”
Someone else added: “I feel your pain, I too work in education. Thanks for the chuckle.”
But it’s not just schools where people are encountering more unusual names. Sharing a different perspective, one person penned: “I saw someone at my job named A’Million. Like, as in a million dollars”.
