Drew Barrymore reveals she's letting her natural grey hairs grow through now she's 45
As one of the most famous child stars in the world, it’s hard to believe Drew Barrymore is already experiencing silver streaks in her hair.
But the 45-year-old actress - who is mum to daughters Olivia, seven, and five-year-old Frankie - has revealed how she is embracing the common part of the ageing process.
In a personal essay for today’s The Sunday Times’ Style magazine, she explained how she is embracing allowing her “natural” grey hairs to grow through now that she is a mum.
The Hollywood star - who rose to fame after starring in E.T. aged seven in 1982 - also joked that they “double as highlights”.

Drew wrote: “Now I’m a mom and in my mid-forties, I have the hair colour I like — drama-free and more natural.
“It takes 30 minutes to do my base of greys. I only barely cover them, so that the follicles can still grab the light as it grows out. (Yes, your greys can double as highlights with the right tint!)”
The actress - who separated from her children’s father, Will Koperman, in 2016 - revealed that she has always been creative when it comes to beauty.
In the same piece, for which she was photographed by her eldest daughter near their family home, she recalled: “I have always experimented with style over my life too. I wasn’t ever the classic girl.

“I remember at my 10th birthday party putting eyeshadow up to my temples.”
Earlier this year, Drew opened up about how difficult she found coming to terms with her weight after pregnancy.
In a post on Instagram, she gave her 13m followers a candid insight into her body confidence struggle.
Alongside two images showing her with different body shapes, the star wrote an honest post about how her size has fluctuated and the impact this has had on her.

Drew explained: “I go up and I go down. The rollercoaster of my body is a challenging, but beautiful ride. I made two kids. The single most important purpose for me being on this planet is for them!
“It is a true miracle I was able to have these two girls. So whatever the aftermath on my body, well bring it on!”
Despite recognising her positive attitude towards her body, the actress admitted that body image issues have frequently reared up.
She continued: ““That said, there have been times I have stood in my closet and just cried. Hated getting dressed. Didn’t feel good!
“It takes so much for me to look decent. I have to eat just right and Work my ass off! I cannot fight the fact that I have the propensity to be the Pillsbury dough boy! (Now all I can think about is crescent rolls).”
