Drew Barrymore gets real about her body struggles on Instagram
Drew Barrymore has opened up about her changing body and how difficult she found juggling her weight after pregnancy and motherhood.
The 44-year-old actress gave followers a candid insight of her weight battles, but despite sometimes feeling the struggle she’s proud her body enabled her to have her two daughters: Olive, now seven, and Frankie, now five.
Alongside two side by side images revealing the star with different body shapes, she wrote an honest post about how her weight has fluctuated and the impact this has had on her.
“I go up and I go down,” she began the post. “The rollercoaster of my body is a challenging, but beautiful ride. I made two kids. The single most important purpose for me being on this planet is for them!
“It is a true miracle I was able to have these two girls. So whatever the aftermath on my body, well bring it on!”
Despite recognising her positive attitude towards her body, the actress did also admit that body image issues have often reared up.
“That said, there have been times I have stood in my closet and just cried. Hated getting dressed. Didn’t feel good!
“It takes so much for me to look decent. I have to eat just right and Work my ass off! I cannot fight the fact that I have the propensity to be the Pillsbury dough boy! (Now all I can think about is crescent rolls).”

Barrymore then went on to urge her followers not to compare themselves to others, particularly when it appears some may spring straight back to their pre-baby weight after giving birth.
“So DON’T Be fooled by what you see when people are thin right after baby. Don’t compare yourself to the magazines and the red carpets.
“If I looked decent on anything I have done since I had my two kids, I have clawed my way there. You can too! However, it is hard to sustain and can take a lot of the joy out of life with food. But not anymore. NOW I have found that elusive B called BALANCE. 45! It only took 45 years to find myself. Right where I am supposed to be.
“And it’s not perfect. But it’s me. And most importantly, I want to share it with you.”
The mum-of-two finished her post by thanking her personal trainer who she credits for helping her learn to love her body.

Since sharing her post, in honour of Wellness Week, Barrymore received countless messages from fans praising her for being so honest.
“Preach girl!!!! You are amazing!!!” one fan wrote. “You HAVE to start with self love - we all need to take care of our health because we LOVE ourselves NOT because we hate ourselves - right??? Grateful every day for my curvy ass body that takes me through this life.”
“Thank you for sharing this. I too am pillsbury dough boy inclined lol so great for people to read this,” another commented.
“I am 13 weeks postpartum and am in the “crying in my closet, hate getting dressed” stage,” another user shared. “But I know I will get to a healthier place. I need this message today. Thank you!”
Earlier this week model Ashley Graham also got real about her post-birth body, by sharing a post revealing her stretch marks.
Since welcoming her first child, a boy called Isaac, on January 18 the new mum has been turning to Instagram to keep fans posted about the realities of motherhood and recently shared a frank message about the realities of her postpartum body.
