Strictly's Lauren Oakley's terse response to trolls after she's slammed for hairstyle
Strictly Come Dancing pro Lauren Oakley has become JLS star JB Gill’s professional partner on the popular BBC dance competition after Amy Dowden had to pull out of the rest of the competition due to an injury. But Lauren, 33, who first stepped in for Amy on last Saturday’s show, previously decided to speak out against online trolls about her iconic short hairstyle.
The dancer, who was paired with Krishnan Guru-Murthy on last year’s series of the BBC entertainment show, always looks glamorous with her cropped haircut but faced negative comments from trolls about her stylish hairdo.
Lauren, who stepped in to perform JB's live couple's choice routine to a Bruno Mars medley during Strictly's first-ever 'Icons Week' last weekend, also performed in the incredible Beyoncé medley during the results show where she sported a long-haired wig.

Lauren then shared pictures of the glamourous look on social media however, it prompted some online users to suggest Lauren should grow her hair, which comes after she was forced to hit back at similar comments last year.
Sharing her post to her Instagram Story, Lauren wrote: "& the 'you should have long hair' comments are coming in thick and fast," adding a crying laughing emoji.
Last year, Lauren slammed online trolls who criticised her for having short hair. The professional dancer posted a lengthy statement to Instagram to explain how "upset" she was at negative comments.
She said at the time: "The subject has surfaced this week, and people have reached out to me about it. I’m generally not inclined to comment, but I feel quite strongly about it, and the bigger picture.
"I’m happy, comfortable and most of the time confident with my appearance. I choose to have short hair, and I think it looks nice on me I have days where I compare myself and don’t feel so pretty (don’t we all)… but I feel lucky that I’m confident with my image."
She continued: "Comments on social media and otherwise don’t upset me, what upsets me is that people feel the need to have an opinion on somebody else’s appearance. I’m grateful that I’ve learnt how not to take it personally (at first it was difficult, especially when related to my career – because ‘dancers don’t have short hair’)."
She finished her post by encouraging people to "think twice about passing comments on appearance, when in fact it has nothing to do with you."
Lauren wrote: "You don’t know what someone else is going through, you don’t know how they feel. The most important thing is that they’re happy in their skin, and if they’re not quite there yet, let’s help them by building them up."
Last year, Strictly Come Dancing was won by Coronation Street star Ellie Leach and her partner Vito Coppola. They fought off Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin, and Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell to lift the Glitterball Trophy.
