The Split star Nicola Walker's life-off screen - including marriage to famous husband
Nicola Walker is reprising her iconic role as Hannah Defoe in the eagerly awaited BBC special of the popular legal drama The Split.
The new episodes kick off with a lively Spanish fiesta set against a sun-drenched weekend backdrop. The storyline delves into themes of love, legacy, and contemporary marriage through a cast of familiar characters.
Hannah is just one of the roles that have made Nicola a household name. The 54-year-old actress is also recognised for her performances in major BBC and ITV dramas, including Unforgotten and Marriage, as well as the Scottish detective series, Annika.
Nicola made her screen debut in Richard Curtis's Four Weddings and a Funeral, playing the folk singer performing at a ceremony while Simon Callow's character Gareth dramatically fakes his own death.
Despite being a regular on our screens, Nicola prefers to lead a quieter life with her family when she's not filming.

Nicola tends to keep her personal life private, but it's known that she's married to fellow actor Barnaby Kay. The pair first met while starring in a play called The Libertine when she was 25. They later welcomed their son, Harry, in 2006, and got married the same year.
Chatting to Woman&Home back in 2017 about tying the knot, the actress spilled: "I was always quite daunted by the idea of marriage; my parents had the most amazing partnership, and no one wants to be the one who gets it wrong. But now that we've done it? Actually, it was just the legalities we were missing before."
Over the years, Barnaby has graced our screens with his presence on numerous TV hits, such as Netflix's Anatomy of a Scandal, the gripping BBC series Wallander, and the much-loved comedy-drama New Tricks. He also made an appearance in Spooks, coinciding with Nicola's stint on the series.
Sarah Lancashire friendship
When it comes to acting, Nicola and Sarah Lancashire are both considered giants in their field, having once worked together on the widely acclaimed BBC series Last Tango in Halifaxit's evident they share a profound connection.
In an emotive interview released during the National Television Awards celebrations, Nicola didn't hold back on praising Sarah, saying: "She (Sarah) has broken my heart and made me laugh in equal measure on camera, on stage, in song, she can do it all,".
The accolades for her former co-star went on: "As an audience, we knew her and that's one of Sarah's gifts that she creates a character that you feel so connected to, and that's because she understands human nature."
And when quizzed on whether she'd jump at the chance to collaborate with Sarah again, Nicola affirmed enthusiastically: "I would like to work only with Sarah Lancashire, every day, all the time, I don't know if anyone can arrange that! We are very lucky to have her."
