It takes a special type of person to slam a defenceless child on social media, but sadly trolls out to attack others do exist – as Solange Knowles knows only too well.

The 29-year-old singer has fired back at one nasty Instagram user who called her son Julez “ugly” after she shared a pic of him on the social networking site.

Beyonce’s younger sister posted a snapshot of her 11-year-old son posing in a red tracksuit for Halloween with the caption, “Young cool J too cool for ghost and goblins.”

While the image received a lot of love from Knowles’ fans and almost 40,000 likes, it also spurred one IG user to comment, “So cute but at the same time he ugly.”

Knowles was having none of it and responded to the hater.

“Jussst as I thought it was safe to share pictures again, a young’n like you decides to use her time to spread ugliness,” she wrote.

“I don’t fault you, I can only imagine why you would feel the need to say such things, but thanks again for being a reminder that out of all the love and wonderful energy shared, that when I open up a space for an innocent beautiful being like my boy to be criticized and judged, that I WILL most likely respond, and that he receives enough love and celebration at home that it’s just not worth it to go down this road.

“I hope that this really resonates with you and you make better decisions in the future towards how you use your words towards innocent children. And @ro.rxd get ya friend because this could have truly gone south if I was in the wrong mood (sic).”

Both the photo and Knowles’ comments have received lots of support from her fans. [Photo: Instagram/Solange Knowles]

The mum-of-one wasn’t the only person to feel angered by the hurtful comment. The singer has racked up a huge amount of support for her response – in addition to a great deal of love for her young son.

IG user @helikestocallmepeaches wrote, “It amazes me when people attack children with their child like behavior. Everyone knows or show know that children are off limits in this messy world of ours. To say mean things about him is totally disgusting. @solange handled the situation a lot better than I would have! I hope that you continue to share pics of your little one with us that have watched him grow from a beautiful baby to a handsome young man!”

Thankfully, the drama hasn’t stopped the singer from sharing snippets of her family life with her son with her fans. On Monday, Knowles shared two videos of Julez dancing around with his friends, writing that she “never wants to leave home.”
