Sir Anthony Hopkins gives major Sir Ian McKellen health update after fall with sweet video

Sir Anthony Hopkins appeared to give an update on his pal Sir Ian McKellen's recovery after he suffered a fall earlier this month. The two actors could be seen joking around and dancing in a fun clip shared to Anthony's Instagram account.

Anthony, 86, did not clarify if the video was new or taken prior to Ian's fall in early June. However, the star said he was "celebrating" his close pal Ian, 85, in a sweet caption, in which he also thanked actress Salma Hayek.

"Today I celebrate my dear friend, Ian and his unbreakable spirit… I love this man," Anthony penned. "'We both have our Gucci on...' Will be ready to return stronger soon. Thank you, Salma."

The two men could be seen dressed in patterned blazers and smart trousers in the video as they danced around together. Classical musical could be heard in the background as others applauded the duo.

Fans flocked to comment on the fun video, with one saying: "My heart two of the greatest minds and souls, Together." A second person said: "What a moment," with a red heart emoji.

"Two absolute legends and screen icons," a third person commented. Somebody else added: "Who wouldn’t wanna join these two beautiful men for a dance?!"

Anthony's new post comes after Ian was rushed to hospital after taking a dramatic fall off stage during a West End performance earlier this month. The actor, who was starring as John Falstaff in Player Kings at the Noel Coward Theatre, reportedly lost his balance in an intense fight scene.

A BBC journalist, who saw the play, said the veteran stage and screen actor was in a scene involving the Prince of Wales and Henry Percy when he fell off the front of the stage. As lights were raised, he was heard crying out, and staff members hurried to assist him. A rep for the star said Tuesday night's performance would be cancelled in an update on his condition.

Days later, Ian's publicist shared a statement about his condition with the PA news agency on his behalf. It read: "After three nights in hospital, the effects of my fall onstage have been fully analysed and I'm now having physiotherapy, light exercise and a lot of essential rest at home."

"Meanwhile, my part in Player Kings is filled by the redoubtable David Semark supported by Robert Icke's amazing production and cast. The many messages of love and support will, I am sure, aid the speedy recovery that my doctors have promised me."
