Sara Pascoe is returning to the Great British Sewing Bee
Sara Pascoe is back bringing fun and fabulous outfits to The Great British Sewing Bee for series
The comedian, writer and actress provides some much needed light relief while boosting the morale of the talented home sewers as threads split, sewing machines choked and they faced no-nonsense judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young.
And now she is returning to the Great British Sewing Bee, after her maternity leave last year meant comedian Kiell Smith-Bynoe jumped in to present series 10.
Sara's first episode back on the show will be the celebrity Christmas special, which airs on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Thursday 19 December at 9pm. We're also expecting her to present series 11 in the new year.
The series follows the 12 ambitious sewers as they undertake three challenges as they compete for the title of best seamstress. The first sewing skill test is the Pattern Challenge, where they will chose fabric from the haberdashery to all make the same pattern.
The second will test their creativity and imagination with the Transformation Challenge, where the sewers get just 90 minutes to turn items of old clothing into something new and exciting. Finally, the ultimate fashion test is Made to Measure, which features the participants fitting to a real life model, which they will have been given time to plan in advance.
Here's everything we know about presenter Sara...
The 43-year-old actress, comedian and writer is best known for her guest appearances on 8 Out of 10 Cats, Guessable and Taskmaster, and her acclaimed BBC2 comedy drama Out of Her Mind, which she both wrote and starred in.
Sara began her career in stand-up comedy in 2007, before being named runner-up in the Funny Women award in 2008, which went to her good friend and fellow comedian, Katherine Ryan.
Following on from the success of comedy shows, including her Edinburgh Festival Fringe Sara Pascoe Vs Her Ego, the star has gone on to appear as a panellist on Mock the Week, Twenty Twelve, QI, Have I Got News For You, Would I Lie to You, and Hypothetical.
She's also enjoyed acting roles in W1A, The Thick of It, The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret, Campus and Being Human. In 2019 she was announced as the host of Dave series Comedians Giving Lectures, in which comedians deliver a stand-up presentation in the guise of a lecture. Meanwhile, Pascoe's three-part BBC Two series Last Woman on Earth with Sara Pascoe premiered in 2020, with a second series recommissoned in May 2022.
Not only that, but the multi-talented Sara is the author of three books. The first, Animal: The Autobiography of a Female Body, was published in 2016, and second in 2019, Sex Power Money, which explores (mostly heterosexual) sexual relations, with particular focuses on male sexuality and on sex work. Her first novel, Weirdo, follows a woman deep in her own thoughts and in pursuit of true love.
In 2020, Sara married fellow comedian Steen Raskopoulos. Sara and Steen are now parents to their two sons.
Back to Sewing Bee, and Sara revealed what it's like to with Sewing Bee judges Patrick and Esme. "Patrick and Esme are lovely to hang around with, we have a bit of a gossip," she added to Metro.co.uk.
"Patrick knows lots of gossip about celebrity chefs and Esme’s had a really rock and roll lifestyle and has met David Bowie and things! We get to enjoy sitting around chatting to them in between as well."
Welcome back to Sewing Bee, Sara!
