Sarah Ferguson 'sent clear message to Harry and Meghan Markle'
The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, also known as Fergie, revealed a heartfelt sentiment about the importance of family unity during an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival.
Speaking at the revered 2024 amFar Gala, Fergie shared her thoughts on what holds a family together. Speaking to PEOPLE magazine, she shared: "I think family unity is key... I think the key to life is that we all support each other," and added: "And also forgiveness is a great thing. I think forgiveness of yourself and forgiveness of others."
These insights came as she was quizzed about offering support to King Charles and Princess Kate amidst their ongoing treatment for cancer. Fergie herself has battled with both breast and skin cancer in the past year.
Now famed royal author and analyst Tom Quinn released exclusive intel to The Mirror, suggesting Fergie's words were a "clear reference to Meghan and Harry's ongoing feud with Prince William and King Charles."
Tom said: "But the Duchess has her own well-publicised family difficulties to deal with she has never stopped trying to persuade the senior royals to rehabilitate her former husband Prince Andrew and when she talked about unity and the need for forgiveness, she no doubt also had her husband in mind. The Duchess of York is only too well aware from her own life in the Royal family that anger and bitterness ultimately lead nowhere."
He continued: "She has always felt that Harry needs to pull himself together and try to forget about the past for the sake of the family. She feels Harry is just taking things too far. While the King has returned to public duties following his diagnosis at the beginning of the year, the Princess of Wales remains out of the public eye after beginning her treatment in March. The forms of cancer each has been diagnosed with have not been revealed."
The Duchess of York has candidly shared her thoughts on the ongoing Royal Family tensions, suggesting that Prince Harry should move past his anger and bitterness for the family's sake. She believes he's pushing the limits too much.
Meanwhile, after King Charles' cancer diagnosis earlier this year, he has resumed his Royal duties, but the Princess of Wales has stayed away from the limelight since starting treatment in March. The specific types of cancer they are battling have not been disclosed.
Prince William has recently reassured fans that his wife is "doing well" during an engagement. The Duchess of York, who has bravely faced breast cancer and a mastectomy, declared she's "put cancer in the corner."
Discussing the importance of openness about health struggles, the Duchess said: "I think a lot of people get very frightened to talk about these things," and added, "I'm very happy with my mastectomy and my breasts and just to talk about it."
