Sandy Liang’s Fall 2025 Collection Was Full of Childhood Nostalgia
Sandy Liang’s fall 2025 collection centered on childhood nostalgia, with the designer’s focal inspiration being a ‘90s Toys “R” Us and classic toys like Polly Pockets, Furbies and Tamagotchis.
“It’s just this idea of you never being able to return to that physical store and that feeling of how it felt to walk in, choose your favorite toy and beg your parents for something and all of the smells and all of the feels,” Liang said. “I am such an avid collector of all of the toys I didn’t have growing up, or more versions of the ones that I did have growing up.”

The inspiration came through in kitschy yet wearable ways, like sweaters decorated with smaller three-dimensional sweaters, miniskirts embellished with a confetti-like fringe, and jackets accessorized with present bows.
Liang merged this childhood nostalgia with her feminine aesthetic for styles that exuded a youthful quality such as polka dot silk dresses, denim pieces with fur trims and metallic skirts. The designs were quintessentially her yet showed a more whimsical side in comparison to previous collections.
“I feel like it’s a real representation of me — a New York girl — and also it’s the idea of playing dress up,” Liang said.
This dress-up quality came through in her layering of childlike pajamas with mini dresses, bubblegum pink jackets and printed jackets. The more childlike pieces were grounded with mature styles like simple knitwear and midi length skirts.
Liang’s fall collection was a youthful take on her go-to feminine aesthetic and brought a whimsicality to her usual downtown chic vibe.
