Speaking in an official statement, the house of Dior confirmed: "The House of Dior is delighted to announce that actor Robert Pattinson is to be the new face of Dior Homme fragrance.

"Today we are excited to announce that he will join the privileged circle of Dior Faces. Photographed by American artist Nan Goldin and filmed by French director Romain Gavras, this new Dior Homme communication campaign is currently broadcast exclusively in Europe (expect UK) and Asia (except China and Japan)."

Dior's confirmation follows months of speculation linking the 27-year-old to the fashion house, which reached fever-pitch when it was reported the heartthob's advert had turned rather steamy.

Reports circulated back in April that Rob's appearance in the Dior campaign saw him romping with four stunning models - much to the annoyance of his then girlfriend Kristen Stewart.

It was even claimed that he'd been forced to pre-warn Kristen about the steamy campaign, to avoid any upset when it went viral.

Naturally, reports of Rob's raunchy antics have been left as purely speculation - with Dior making no mention to any saucy campaigns in today's official statement (boo!).

Fans can celebrate the drool-worthy new image of R-Pattz they're issuing along with the campaign though, showing Rob's infamous brooding good looks as he poses for the camera.

Dior rounded off their big announcement by gushing over the actor's CV to date, revealing Rob's talents that brought him to their attention.

"Since his first notable role in 2005 in the fourth Harry Potter sequel, film star Robert Pattinson has more recently come to be known through his role in the runway box office success, The Twilight Saga," the statement reads.

"he has since proven te scope of his acting talents by choosing films as varied as Remember Me by Allen Coulter, Water For Elephants by Francis Lawrence, in which he starred alongside Reese Witherspoon, or with his role as Bel-Ami, the famous Maupassant character.

"In the ultimate tribute to his talent, David Cronenberg chose him to star in his latest picture, Cosmopolis, adapted from the novel by Don de Lillo. A striking role as a golden boy which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

"He has recently completed filming David Michod's The Rover in Australia with Guy Pearce and will soon be on set for David Cronenberg's next picture, Maps to the Stars. Following on he will star in Hold on to Me, directed by James Marsh and co-starring Carey Mulligan."

Guess fans will just have to keep everything crossed that the steamy campaign isn't just another rumour too...
