You'd be forgiven for mistaking Reese Witherspoon and Ava Phillippe as twins rather than mother and daughter, for the pair look so alike that the 24 year age gap between them is almost unbelievable.
And at a Tiffany & Co. celebration in Beverly Hills last night, the differences between Reese and Ava really were few and far in between. The mirror-image duo, with their trademark honey-blonde hair, even matched their outfits - both in strapless black dresses and statement jewellery.
The resemblance is so uncanny that rarely an Instagram post of them goes by without dozens of fans telling 48-year-old Reese how much her 24-year-old daughter looks like her.
But what does the Big Little Lies star make of it all?
“I do see the resemblance. She’s a beautiful person inside and out,” Reese once said of her daughter in a red-carpet interview for Vanity Fair. “I’m not sure what she thinks. I’m just ‘Mom’ to her.
“We’re happy to share this wonderful experience. I really have a rich, personal relationship with my daughter. I have a really great career, and it’s nice to be able to share it with my kids.”
Their bond is clear to see - from sharing the same sense of style to adopting the same ethos.
“My mom is Southern,” the 24-year-old recently told People. “A big saying in the South, especially amongst women is, ‘Pretty is as pretty does.’
“Every time that comes up in my brain or I see people bring critical of others online for their appearance, I just always think, you’re only as beautiful as you treat other people.”
