Queen Letizia of Spain has always been a style star, and recently, she proved once again that looking chic has no age limit. The fashionable royal attended a seminar on language and journalism in Logroño, in the north of the country, sporting an elegant streak of grey in her brunette locks.

To pair with her new look, Letizia selected a pair of pleated wide-leg trousers in a fawn-coloured check pattern, a black top, and a black lambskin trench coat by Lottusse 1877. She accented the style with diamond hoop earrings by Gold and Roses, a black Nina Ricci Marche shoulder bag, and chunky soled loafers by Martinelli.

Her look for the seminar marked the first time Letizia has been seen with a distinct silver streak, despite regularly appearing at events with grey hairs brightening up her signature brunette. Earlier this month, she and Felipe joined the Danish royal family for a state visit in Denmark, including a glitzy state banquet where the bright gleam in her hair came courtesy of the Fleur-de-Lis tiara, sometimes known as “La Buena”. The headpiece is closely associated with the queens of Spain, having been given by King Alfonso XIII in 1906 to his bride, Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg (a granddaughter of Queen Victoria), and has been one of Letizia’s go-to toppers since she became queen.

Before joining the Spanish royal family with her 2004 wedding to King Felipe VI of Spain, Letizia was herself a journalist, working as an anchor for news organisations like Televisión Española and CNN, so her presence at the seminar was a thoughtful nod to her pre-royal life.
