Princess Beatrice is expecting her second child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi

Congratulations are in order for Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who are expecting their second child together.

The royal family confirmed the happy news with a post on X (formerly Twitter) featuring sweet photos of the couple and their family — including three-year-old daughter Sienna and Mapelli Mozzi’s eight-year-old son, Christopher Woolf, whom he shares with ex Dara Huang.

“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their second child together early in the new year; a sibling for Wolfie and Sienna,” the post read. “His Majesty the King has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”

Beatrice is the eldest daughter of the Duke of York and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson; the new baby will be their fourth grandchild. Younger sister Eugenie has two children – August, three, and one-year-old Ernest – with husband Jack Brooksbank.

Beatrice gave birth to her first child in September 2021. At the time, she announced that she had named her daughter Sienna Elizabeth Mapelli Mozzi — the middle name a tribute to her grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth II. “We are all doing well and Wolfie is the best big brother to Sienna,” she said in a post on Twitter at the time.

Mapelli Mozzi offered a similar sentiment in a sweet Instagram post. “Our life together has just begun, and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things that await us,” he said. “Feeling so much love and gratitude for my amazing wife, baby Sienna and Wolfie. These are the days I never want to forget. This week, a friend said to me the sweetest saying …. that with every child you grow a whole new heart.”

Happy news of a new royal baby comes after a particularly tumultuous year for the Windsors. King Charles, Kate, the Princess of Wales and Beatrice's mother Sarah, Duchess of York , all received cancer diagnoses early in the year.

Sarah was treated for malignant melanoma skin cancer in January, just months after undergoing a mastectomy for breast cancer. However, Beatrice said in May the duchess had been given the "all clear".
