Prince William will act as compere and not give a speech at royal reception
Kensington Palace have just announced that the Duke of Cambridge will compere the royal wedding reception this afternoon.
The news follows the announcement that the Duke of Wales, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle herself will make speeches.
But Prince Harry should still fear his brothers quick wit, because even though Prince William won’t make an official speech, the role of compere means his voice is still going to be heard, as he’ll effectively chair the whole ceremony.
Back when it was announced that Prince Harry had asked his older brother to be his best man, Prince William commented: “it feels great, a real delight…revenge is sweet.”
So, it’s safe to say a few cheeky truths (come on Wills, spill the beans) will make their way into the rest of Prince William’s light-hearted patter.
The royal family are well known for giving as good as they get when it comes to family ribbing. At the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding reception, Prince Charles made a joke about Prince William’s receding hairline, which only spurred Will on to make a quip about his father’s expanding waistline.
Apparently, Prince Harry got down on one knee to ask his brother to be his best man, and he had everyone in stitches at the last royal wedding, with one friend commenting the speech was “just so Harry.”
Prince Harry has been known to call the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the ‘Dude and Duchess’ in the past, but everything is said in jest, and the UK, and the rest of the world is used to seeing the lovable princes muck about.
So watch out Prince Harry, we bet you’re regretting your bad boy days now.
And we can’t wait to hear more news about Meghan Markle’s kick-ass speech. Kudos to her for being so brave; we love a girl who stands up for the sisterhood.
