Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's gifted baby koalas and an Indian bull as wedding presents

In true Prince Harry and Meghan Markle style, the happy couple asked that their guests and well wishers didn’t buy them wedding gifts, but instead made charitable donations.

And to make things a little easier, they outlined seven charities close to their hearts. These included:

Children’s HIV association (CHIVA); the Myna Mahila Foundation, which supports women in Mumbai’s slums; Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity supporting children who have lost a parent in the Armed Forces; young persons charity Street Games; marine conservation organisation Surfers Against Sewage (SAS); and, finally, the Wilderness Foundation.

Now, just days after the couple wed at St. George’s chapel in Windsor, heads of states and powerful supporters of the lovebirds have been taking to Twitter to announce their charities of choice, and it’s a heartwarming mixed bag.

Justin Trudeau

Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau has generously donated a whopping $50,000 (£29,000) to youth sports-focused charity, Jumpstart.

A press release from the statesmen read:

“Today, Canadians joined in celebration as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle married.”

“To celebrate their union, Canada will donate $50,000 to Jumpstart, a Canadian charity dedicated to making play and sports more accessible to children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since 2005, Jumpstart has helped more than 1.6 million children of all abilities get out on the field and be part of a team.”

Donald Trump

Despite not being invited to the royal wedding, Donald Trump, in a surprising show of generosity, has released a statement saying the Whitehouse, the President and his First Lady, Melania Trump will make a donation to one of Prince Harry and Meghan’s chosen charities.

We’ll wait for an official confirmation of this happening.

Peta India

One to surely make Prince Harry and Meghan Markle laugh, Peta India has adopted a bull in the royal couple’s name – quite literally, as the bull, who was found weak and injured on the roadside, has been named ‘Merry’, an amalgamation of Harry and Meghan’s name. TOO CUTE!

Jacinda Ardern

New Zealand’s president, Jacinda Ardern has reportedly made a donation of $5000 (£2,500) to New Zealand charity Pillars, which helps supports the children and families of people in prison.

Malcom Turnbull

Aussie Prime Minister, Malcom Turnbull has announced the land down under will be making a generous donation to Prince Harry’s charity – the Invictus Games, which are being hosted in Sydney later this year.

He took to his Instagram page to show support.

It seems the whole of Australia is feeling the royal wedding love, and in an additional outpouring of support, the Australian area of New South Wales has announced it’s going to name two koala bears, living at Taronga Zoo, Harry and Meghan.

The koalas haven’t even been born yet, but we can’t wait to see their first official portraits.

The region will also be making a donation of $5,000 (£2,800) “towards preserving koala habitats.”

Emmanuel Macron

The French are never ones to stick to the rules and French President, Emmanuel Macron wanted to give something especially stylish and fashionable, hence a bespoke piece from ST Dupont’s 007 collection which includes a pen and lighter. Not quite so charitable, but very cool, non-the-less.
