Prince Harry exits UK after news that 'left him in tears' - without having seen his dad or brother

Prince Harry has now departed the UK and jetted to Nigeria following a brief two-day stay in London. The Duke of Sussex visited his home country to attend an Invictus Game ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral.

Despite being just miles away from the Royal Family, Harry, 39, did not see his father, King Charles, 75, nor his older brother Prince William, 41, during his stay. It was previously confirmed that the King's schedule was too busy to fit in a visit from his youngest son.

Harry was reportedly reunited with wife Meghan Markle, 42, in London before the pair jetted to Nigeria, landing on 10 May. The Sussexes are undertaking a three-day visit to Africa.

As well as not getting to see his family, Harry was also delivered some crushing news while in the UK. His arrival in London was overshadowed by news after his father had bestowed a new military honour upon Prince William.

Hours after it was confirmed Charles and Harry would not be meeting, the Palace declared that Prince William would receive the title of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps - an accolade many believed would go to Harry, who served with the corps in Afghanistan.

According to Royal author and commentator, Tom Quinn, Harry would have been "left in tears" over the snub. The expert alleged that Palace insiders "knew" the timing of the announcement would "really hurt" the Duke, who "is said to have been in tears when he heard".

"King Charles' announcement that Prince Harry is being stripped of his role as Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps is a real kick in the teeth for the son who always felt marginalised and underrated. What makes it much worse is that the role is being given to the very man who Harry sees as the cause of so many of his problems his brother," Tom told the Mirror.

He added: "And the announcement was deliberately made during Harry's brief visit to the UK to have maximum impact it shows Harry that he really is no longer welcome."

No members of the Royal Family attended the Invictus Games - which Harry founded - ceremony in London with Harry, with many royals heading to a Buckingham Palace garden party with the King.

However, Harry's uncle Earl Charles Spencer and aunt Lady Jane Fellowes, both siblings of the late Princess Diana, were present at the service. Also in attendance were Harry's cousin Louis Spencer, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's wife Akshata Murty, his lawyer David Sherbourne, and former Army officer Mark Dyer, who has been like a "second dad" to Harry.
