Prince George 'to join Prince William to watch FA Cup final' at Wembley
Prince George looks set to accompany his father, Prince William, to the FA Cup final held at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, 25 May.
The 10 year old prince, who is an avid football fan, frequently attends matches alongside his dad. The highly anticipated fixture is between Manchester City and Manchester United.
United boss Erik ten Hag has been upfront about his ambition for the match. He said, "Every game I want to win and I just focus on this game as I do for every game, I know it's an important game as it's about a trophy. An FA Cup final is a big event and we are there. We have an opportunity, we have to go for it and we will go for it."
In addition to the father-son duo, the Prince of Wales, who is the President of the Football Association, will be seated in the Royal box to later present the trophy to the victorious team.
Prince George will cheer on from the stands with his dad William, who regularly enjoys the thrill of the FA Cup final along with George. Both are fervent Aston Villa supporters, reports the Mirror.
George had previously joined his dad to watch Aston Villa take on Lille in the Europa Conference League quarter-final first leg on April 12.
Wearing a Villa-branded scarf, the pair were spotted smiling and applauding as their team emerged victorious. This outing marked the pair's first public appearance post the news of his mother, the Princess of Wales's cancer diagnosis in March.
With the impending football match, Royal fans can anticipate seeing the father and son politicians together once again.
Prince George is known for his love of football. In 2020, he was seen beaming with joy when Luke Shaw scored the opening goal in the Euro final, which he attended with his parents.
However, his joy was short-lived as England lost the match 3-2 to penalties after Italy equalised midway through the second half.
A love of football isn't the only thing Prince George shares with his father as William recently revealed that there could be another career in store for George before he becomes King.
This revelation came during a Buckingham Palace garden party, as William hinted that his son exhibits the traits of a "potential pilot in the making".
Rewinding to 2017 when George was still in toddler years, he joined his parents on a trip to Germany and Poland. The highlight for George was seeing the helicopters at Hamburg Airport.
An eyewitness, Antoine van Gent, told the Telegraph that George showed curiosity towards each helicopter. "George was excited, with the first helicopter he wanted to sit in the cockpit, and then he wanted to sit in the next one, he already knew there was a difference between them," he explained.
William, who once served as an air ambulance pilot in East Anglia back in his younger days, gave his son a glimpse of the basics of flying, even letting the young Royal feel what it's like to wear a pilot's helmet. The future king, who qualified as a Search and Rescue pilot with the RAF in 2010, also worked for the East Anglia Air Ambulance.
