Hollywood actor who starred alongside Tom Hanks quits Coronation Street - just weeks after debut

Hollywood actor Robin Morrissey, who recently joined the cast of Coronation Street as Felix, Summer Spellman's boyfriend, has decided to leave the show just weeks after his debut. Summer returned to Weatherfield with a new man in tow after studying in America, much to the surprise of Billy and Paul.

However, upcoming episodes will see Felix say goodbye to Summer after he overhears a derogatory message about him on Paul's Eyegaze device. As Billy and Todd scramble to find the mute button, Felix storms out.

Robin was a significant signing for ITV bosses, having starred alongside big names like Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, and Hugh Grant in the blockbuster movie Cloud Atlas - which was his first professional gig. Since then, he has appeared in numerous films and TV dramas.

The Liverpool-born star is also known for his role as Sergeant Fred Thompson in the police drama, The Tower.

Following Robin's first scene, the audience was less than thrilled with his role, worried he might stir up trouble in Summer's family, particularly through a potential cheating storyline involving Todd Grimshaw. This week, those concerns seemed justified as viewers questioned Felix's intentions towards Summer, doubting the romance she's hoping for, reports the Mirror.

On social media platform X, one fan speculated: "I bet Summer's new fella is actually a tutor from the university of America Who has come alone to use Paul as a 'case study' #Corrie."

Another viewer suggested: "Is Summer's boyfriend with her to study Paul up and close. I dunno what to think about him. #Corrie" A third chimed in with caution: "#corrie Don't let Felix anywhere near Paul." And a fourth expressed outright distrust: "I don't like him, there's something off about him. Run summer, run #Corrie."

From the get-go, Felix's peculiar fascination with Paul's situation raised eyebrows when he met Billy, Paul, and Todd. Coronation Street's Tina O'Brien shares some juicy inside scoop about her character Sarah Platt's roller-coaster relationship with Gary Windass, played by Mikey North.

When Sarah stumbles upon a despondent Gary, he invites her to his flat - that he happens to share with Maria - in an attempt to lift her spirits, leading to an emotional embrace between the two. But Gary conveniently forgets about Maria's hidden cameras installed for watching over her son Liam, that unfortunately captured their meeting. And of course, as soaps go, Maria discovers them.

Tina opened up about the deep bond between Sarah and Gary in her interview with Metro, saying: "She's got this odd connection with Gary, they always had this ability to tell each other things that they wouldn't tell other people."

She added, "I think because he saw her at her worst I think they do tend to gravitate back to that depth of emotion. He shouldn't be telling her how things have been with Maria but he did, despite knowing it's probably not the right thing to do."

"Did they think they were getting up to anything, probably not, but were they breaking a certain code, yes. They're the conversations you're meant to have with your partner but they seem to be able to have them so much easier with each other.

"There's definitely still a bond there, especially with Nathan back on the scene. Gary was there when Bethany went through that the first time, he knew exactly how horrific it was and rightly or wrongly I think he's doing what he can trying to help get Nathan out of the picture."
