People think Meghan Markle's wedding look was inspired by J.Lo in The Wedding Planner
Meghan Markle’s stunning wedding gown, designed by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy, was the star of yesterday’s show – but did she take her inspiration from the movies?
On the big day, the bride revealed her dress to millions after months of speculation about the design.
The bateau neckline dress was made from double-bonded silk cady and was worn with a Queen Mary’s tiara and a 16 foot long veil.
However, people were quick to make comparisons between wedding dresses of the past. Our favourite? Jennifer Lopez’s from 2001 rom-com ‘The Wedding Planner’.
In the film, J.Lo plays Mary, a wedding planner, who after years of planning other people’s nuptials, finally finds a husband to wed for her own.
During the film’s wedding scene, J.Lo wears a very similar dress to Meghan’s Givenchy creation, and people were quick to notice.

Both dresses feature the same boat neckline and three quarter-length sleeves. Even the brides’ hair/veil composition looks similar!
We certainly see the similarities, don’t you?
Kensington Palace said of Meghan’s dress: “The focus of the dress is the graphic open bateau neckline that gracefully frames the shoulders and emphasises the slender sculpted waist.
“The lines of the dress extend towards the back where the train flows in soft round folds cushioned by an underskirt in triple silk organza. The slim three-quarter sleeves add a note of refined modernity.”
