The One Show's Alex Jones reveals son, 4, taken to hospital for surgery
Presenter Alex Jones has opened up about her youngest son’s health scare. She revealed that her four-year-old son, Kit, had been in hospital for a minor operation at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. On the morning of Thursday 18 April, Alex shared a picture of Kit, with a sticker on his top, reading a book. Thankfully, the youngster seemed to be making a quick recovery.
In the post, she wrote: “Kit has been in for a little op this morning. Firstly a HUGE thank [you] to the wonderfully kind nurses and doctors @chelwestft. Simply the best paediatrics, and also to @mykidsgodreads. Kit choose a book which cheered him right up!”
It’s not the first time Alex’s son, Kit has had surgery, he also went in for an operation in February 2023. Alex put up a post of an empty hospital bed with a Peter Rabbit and Spiderman toy .
She said: "Just waiting for little Kit to come back from surgery. He's just having some grommets in his ears so nothing to worry about but horrible none the less."
Alex has three children with husband Charlie Thomson; Teddy, seven, Kit, four, and Annie, two.
Alex followed up her post about Kit with a picture of an individual, believed to be a staff member, standing by book shelves in the hospital. Alex praised charity Read for Good, whose logo was on the bookshelf, in the accompanying caption.
After 13 years on The One Show, Alex announced on Friday 5 April, she was taking a break, but luckily she was only heading on holiday.
Alex and her family left the UK over the Easter break to enjoy some sun in Lanzarote. And The One Show host posted some snaps of the family trip on her socials.
She wrote: “Feel so lucky to have enjoyed some sunny weather together in Lanzarote over Easter. It is such a brilliant island for young children. Everything is very easy but there is also plenty to do to keep all ages occupied.”
Earlier in the year, Alex put up an emotional post as she celebrated Teddy’s birthday. In January, Alex remarked “the years are flying by”.
She later penned: I'm just sitting here enjoying the view. But I feel really reflective and I think it's because Ted turns seven today and we had a party with all his class yesterday and it was brilliant but it was chaotic. You don't really absorb anything."
