The Night Manager confirms huge star will return for season two

Exciting news for fans of spy drama as the BBC has just announced that Olivia Colman is set to return to our screens as the sharp-witted intelligence officer Angela Burr in the much-anticipated second series of The Night Manager. Joining her will be Tom Hiddleston, reprising his role as the suave Jonathan Pine.

The cameras are ready to roll this month for the new series, which sees a partnership between BBC and Prime Video. While details of the plot remain under wraps, we can expect more gripping storytelling from David Farr, the mastermind behind the original series.

Not only will Olivia and Tom be gracing our screens once more, but we'll also be reunited with Alistair Petrie as Sandy Langbourne and Douglas Hodge as Rex Mayhew.

The cast doesn't stop there; Michael Nardone will return as Frisky, and Noah Jupe will once again play Daniel Roper. With eight years having passed since the first series' thrilling conclusion, Director of BBC Drama Lindsay Salt hinted at what's to come, saying: "Olivia Colman's award-winning role as Angela Burr in the first series of The Night Manager was unforgettable and we are over the moon that she is back alongside Tom Hiddleston."

Lindsay couldn't contain her excitement about the stellar lineup, adding: "The second series of The Night Manager promises to provide even more drama, glamour, intrigue and suspense," reports the Express.

Back in 2016, the gripping first series of The Night Manager had us all on the edge of our seats as Tom Hiddleston took on the role of Jonathan Pine, infiltrating the inner circle of notorious arms dealer Richard Roper, portrayed by the brilliant Hugh Laurie.

The six-episode thriller was a rollercoaster of suspense and bombshell moments, culminating in viewers witnessing the downfall of the corrupt tycoon. Initially believed to be dead after an intense face-off with Jonathan, Roper's fate was left ambiguous as he was last seen being carted off by his disgruntled buyers following a botched £300 million deal.

While it remains a mystery if Roper survived his ordeal, Hugh is making a comeback, not on screen but as an executive producer for the show's eagerly anticipated second series.

The upcoming season boasts an impressive lineup, welcoming stars like Diego Calva, Camila Morrone, Indira Varma, Paul Chahidi, and Hayley Squires to its cast.

The first series was a cultural phenomenon, scooping up over 30 award nominations and bagging several BAFTAs, Emmy Awards, and Golden Globes. With a staggering 10 million viewers tuning in, it ranked as one of the most popular television dramas of 2016.

Tom Hiddleston, reflecting on the series' revival, shared: "The first series of The Night Manager was one of the most creatively fulfilling projects I have ever worked on. The depth, range and complexity of Jonathan Pine was, and remains, a thrilling prospect.

"I'm so looking forward to reuniting with Simon and Stephen Cornwell, David Farr and Stephen Garrett, and to working with Georgi Banks-Davies to tell the next chapter of our story. I can't wait."
