When the next episodes of The Acolyte drop on Disney+

Are you hooked on The Acolyte, the sleek new Star Wars series on Disney+? It's a space adventure and a mystery rolled into one. Keep up with the episode schedule so you won't miss any intergalactic twists and turns.

The series, from Russian Doll creator Leslye Headland, centres on twin women named Mae and Osha – both played by Amandla Stenberg, "Lindsay Lohan in The Parent Trap" style –with very different relationships to the Jedi and The Force™ in a time of relative calm in the Star Wars galaxy. (More like Star Peace? What a concept!) The ensemble cast includes Dafne Keen, Manny Jacinto, Lee Jung-jae, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Carrie-Ann Moss. There's also a droid named Pip and an alien named Bazil! Star Wars wouldn't be Star Wars without some adorable little guys.

What Star Wars do I need to have watched to enjoy The Acolyte?

Honestly? As much or as little as you want. Unlike many of the previous Star Wars live-action series on Disney+ (The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Andor) this series is not trying to fill in the gaps between the films. It is a brand new story, set a full century before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace with new characters and a new story.

Bottom line: You don't need to know anything about anybody named Skywalker to get into this series. While the phrase "Wookiee Jedi" definitely means more to a Star Wars fan, this show is newbie-friendly in a great way.
