Everyone knows that Martha Stewart is the queen of homemaking. So when she drops her menu for an event, obviously, we take notes.

I’ll be the first to tell you her secret ingredient upgrade for pigs in a blanket made sure the appetizer was the first thing gone at my Super Bowl party. Spoiler: it’s adding Dijon mustard to the puff pastry dough.

If you love a themed party as much as Stewart and I do, you might already be thinking about your next foodie celebration: the Kentucky Derby. Stewart already is, which is why she teamed up with the Derby to share five recipes that will make the most exciting two minutes in sports the most delicious, too.

This year is the 150th running of the horse race, so Stewart is ensuring your at-home Derby Day is just as memorable as the experience at Churchill Downs.

“From classic favorites like Deviled Eggs and Pimento Cheese, to creative twists on Derby Day staples, each dish is a tribute to the flavors of this storied historic event," said Stewart. "Hosting an at-home Derby celebration is about creating memorable moments with loved ones, savoring delicious food, and embracing the overall spirit that makes Derby Day special."

While you could recreate some of the official Kentucky Derby menu items, like pea pasta salad and “My Old Kentucky Bibb Salad,” Stewart’s menu of Southern staples seems more up our alley. Her menu includes Benedictine dip, hot crab dip, deviled eggs, pimento cheese, and, of course, mint juleps, the official cocktail of the Kentucky Derby.

Sure, we’re intrigued by Stewart’s tomato paste-filled deviled eggs and signature cocktail—I know she makes a mean drink—but the pimento cheese really caught our eye. Why? Because it’s practically identical to how we at Allrecipes make our pimento cheese.

That’s right, Martha Stewart makes almost our exact Southern Pimento Cheese recipe. The only difference is she omits garlic powder, but we are garlic fans, so we’re adding that 1/4 teaspoon.

You know what they say, great minds think alike, so if you want to try Stewart’s favorite pimento cheese, look no further than our five-star recipe. All you need is extra-sharp Cheddar, cream cheese, mayo, diced pimento, jalapeño, cayenne, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Mix all that together, and you’ll have a cheesy, savory spread like no other. Stewart serves her pimento cheese on crusty bread and cucumbers, but you can use crackers or other veggies.

Plus, pimento cheese is so much more than just an appetizer. If your Derby Day menu includes hamburgers or fried chicken, try adding the pimento cheese to those, too.

With Stewart’s easy, tasty recipes, this 150th Derby Day will be one to remember, even if your horse doesn’t take home the title.
