It fit the bill for her rare casual outing.

I’ve always followed Martha Stewart’s advice. When I was a young girl watching her cooking show with my mom, we swiftly followed suit creating whatever recipes Stewart had just presented. There’s a calm, confident ease with which she can convince you to try, do, or get anything, which is why when I saw her most recent winter outing, I realized, I need everything she has—including that very divisive but cozy two-piece set.

Stewart was spotted out and about on a rare, casual outing—and I say rare because whenever she’s photographed in public, it’s been at industry events. She was totally bundled up, like I am now that I’m back home in Minnesota for the holidays, wearing a head-to-toe caramel look that’s equal parts cozy and chic.

Stewart wore a houndstooth puffer coat that was, in short, so cool. It had a cropped silhouette that felt fresh, with an oversized collar that also read very trendy. Underneath, she wore the wintertime no-brainer: a velvet sweatshirt, which she paired with matching velvet sweatpants. Okay, so who else needs a velour tracksuit like back in the early aughts? I definitely do now thanks to her.

Stewart rounded out her velour tracksuit combo with coordinating, slip-on Skechers sneakers, a go-to of hers for all-day wear, plus a trusty Bandolier phone case and an on-the-go travel mug in hand, the latter of two honestly would make a great last-minute holiday presents, too—just in case her velvet ‘fit isn’t for you.

But honestly, a cozy, soft, velour tracksuit is all I want to wear as I spend the holidays eating too much chocolate, baking cookies, and binging Christmas movies with the people I love the most. I’d probably even go to my local Target in it, too, and style it like Stewart so just in case I run into anyone from my high school, I still look, well, presentable.
