Mark My Words: This One Color Will be 2025's Biggest Makeup Trend

As much as beauty editors, makeup artists, and the general makeup-wearing public are over trends that reference the whole glazed-donut cinnamon-bun-swirl cocoa mousse cream soda fizz crumble cookie situation, cherry makeup is a whole different story. Actually, it's a massive 2025 makeup trend experts are seriously keeping an eye on. According to Pinterest Predicts, their annual trend report, dark-cherry red colors will be everywhere in 2025, especially in makeup. We've already seen a few brands launch new products in new cherry colors, including Glossier's entire Black Cherry Collection.

It feels exciting because the vibe isn't just a repackaged version of a simple brown smokey eye or glittery highlight (sorry to the trends of yesteryear). You likely remember strawberry girl makeup and latte makeup—and the cherry look is similar in that it can be monochromatic, but can also be taken up a few notches to veer on the more dramatic side too.

Need a few ideas to get your wheels turning? From red lips to flushed cheeks to crimson eyes, I've rounded up all the cherry makeup inspo you need to recreate your own looks (plus, products to shop below):

1. Glossy Cherry Lips

When you see a cherry makeup look on TikTok, you're probably used to seeing one that resembles this: A glazed, overlined red lip. And there's a reason why it works so well! It immediately gives your makeup look—whether it's the strong, black winged liner shown above or a more ~demure~ soft brown mascara and glowy cheek—a zhuzh. It's a little more somethin'-somethin' than a clear gloss, but not exactly too boundary-pushing for a day at the office either.

2. Cherry Cola Lips

Unlike the usual subdued, ~clean girl makeup~ looks of TikTok, the cherry trend has legs to get a lil vampy, per this burgundy lipstick. The deep red undertones deliver strong color, especially when paired with a rosy blush moment too for some cohesion. Try Charlotte Tilbury's Night Crimson lipstick for this—it's fully opaque with a satin finish that doesn't slide around but still feels comfortable on your lips for hours.

3. Red Eyeliner

With a few tweaks, red eyeliner can look extremely cool, editorial, and chic—not at all like you have pink eye (I mean, just look at how iconic this eye is on Victoria Pedretti, above). Pairing the look with eyeshadow definitely makes it more intentional... versus an irritated eye situation. But if you don't feel like going bold with more red, try a soft pink, a shimmery champagne, or a matte brown a shade or two deeper than your skin tone all over your lid. To keep your wing sharp, dip a Q-tip in micellar water to clean up any edges.

4. Ripe Cherry Lips

An ombré lip moment really works with the cherry makeup trend if you want your lips to look seriously ~juicy~ and ~ripe~. The key is to focus your lightest and most vibrant red shade at the center of your lips. But! Apply that last, after your deeper red and brown lip liners, since those will be harder to clean up and blend. My go-to to create a bold cherry-red look is actually Milk Makeup's Jelly Tint in Chill—it really makes the center of my lips pop.

5. Black Cherry Lips

If you wanna create a whole damn look on your lips, try the black cherry trend, which features an overlined brown outline topped with a red gloss. When you massage your lips together, the colors blend seamlessly, á la Ariana Greenblatt's look above. Fun fact: She told Seventeen she swears by Make Up For Ever's Artist Pencil in Limitless Brown.

6. Matte Cherry Lips

Well, yes, this is just a red lip. But! It's proof that the cherry makeup look is a real canvas and can be worn with a whole lotta vibes depending on your mood. Case in point: This minimal look here, which features a warm wash of color on the eyes and glowy skin, letting the blue-toned red lips totally have their time in the sun.

7. Cherry Eyes

Important: We cannot be forgetting about red eyeshadow when we talk cherry makeup. Specifically, a shimmery red looks super striking combined with an otherwise fresh face. Tap on your shadow (a powder will be sheerer, while a liquid will have more opacity, FYI) in the middle of your eyelid, then swipe on a few coats of mascara. To really amp up the look, you can even use a burgundy mascara for a tonal effect.
