Reality star Olivia Bentley has spoken about the “real reason” she left Made In Chelsea after filming the show for eight years.

The 28 year old found fame on the series in 2016, and when she left a spokesperson for Channel 4 said it was because Olivia wanted to focus on her business, Jomo, following the end of her relationship with Tristan Phipps in 2023.

“Liv Bentley has been sharing her life with Made in Chelsea audiences for the past eight years and is now taking a short but well-earned break from the series to focus on her business – JOMO. We look forward to welcoming her back to the show later this year,” Channel 4 said at the time.

However, in an interview with Pop Sugar, Olivia has spoken about what was really behind her decision to leave Made in Chelsea.

She said: “I was struggling with deciding whether to stay on the show or not. The last series was really hard and speaking honestly, I was drinking a lot more than I normally do. I was drinking unnecessarily and to mask sadness.”

“I was relying on booze to give me energy, make me feel happier, give me confidence — all the wrong reasons. I was trying to bring the energy to be the Liv that everyone thought I was but inside, I was really unhappy, and that's why I stopped drinking.”

“But I'm still close with my friends who are on the show and our friendships have stayed the same.”

In an interview with OK! at the end of last year, Olivia hinted at her plans to leave the series, and said at the time: “I’m retiring – I don’t know when. It’s amazing but maybe it’s time for something else.” She also spoke about wanting to “find a husband” and joked that her dream was to “live on a small island and have a few kids. I want to focus on my wellbeing brand JOMO, I want to do more of that.”

During her time in the series, Olivia got together with Tristan, with their relationship beginning in 2020, and Tristan later moved into Liv’s Chelsea flat. They split three years later, announcing that they “ended very amicably.”

Both Liv and Tristan appeared in Made in Chelsea’s Sydney series at the end of last year, but since then the couple have gone their separate ways, with Tristan signing up for the new season of Celebs Go Dating that is currently filming in London.
