Lorraine Kelly has detailed a selection of her stand-out moments of her 40 years in broadcasting as she prepares to receive one of the highest BAFTA honour this weekend..

The TV presenter, who has hosted ITV's Lorraine for 30 years, will become the recipient of the BAFTA Television Special Award at the 2024 BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday (12th May).

Good Morning Britain's Susanna Reid surprised Lorraine with the announcement on Lorraine back on 25th March, and previous recipients of the accolade include David Olusoga, Clare Balding, Idris Elba, Lenny Henry, Delia Smith and Cilla Black.

Looking back on her unforgettable career highlights, Lorraine recalled backing life-saving charities and being serenaded by none other than Hollywood star George Clooney.

"There are so many moments," Lorraine told BAFTA. "From interviewing Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the moon, to having George Clooney sing happy birthday to me, to driving Boy George in a golf cart.

"And I’m very proud of all the campaigns we have run, especially our our Change and Check Breast Cancer campaign that has saved at least sixty lives. Some of those survivors released our GOLDEN single just before Christmas and made it to number one. I’m so glad to have been part of a show that has been a pioneer when it comes to breaking taboos and hopefully making everyone a bit kinder and more understanding."

Lorraine, who is set to become a grandmother soon as her daughter Rosie Smith is expecting her first child, also revealed the celebrities she will be the most starstruck to meet at the ceremony, which is being held at Southbank's Royal Festival Hall.

"I’m looking forward to meeting all of them but I will be very starstruck if I happen to be at the bar with Brian Cox and Sarah Lancashire," Lorraine added.

Brian Cox is nominated for Leading Actor for Succession, while Sarah Lancashire is nominated for Leading Actress for Happy Valley.

Other nominees include Steve Coogan, Paapa Essiedu, Matthew MacFadyen, Anne Reid, Harriet Walter, Helena Bonham Carter, Lesley Manville and Sharon Horgan. Lorraine will be going up against Loose Women and Make It at Market for Best Daytime award.

The 2024 BAFTA TV Awards will air on BBC One on Sunday, 12th May at 7pm.
