London Fashion Week Men’s is almost upon us – but it’s not all about the boys. This season will see more designers than ever showing womenswear, too.

Over 50 catwalk shows and presentations will be held between Thursday 8 June until Monday 12 June 2017, and 10 of those will include co-ed collections.

After the success of her co-ed LFWM runway in January, punk queen Vivienne Westwood will once again show both her menswear and womenswear – tearing down gender barriers in the process.

“My very first fashion shows were always men and women. It’s particularly unisex now because this time you’ve got lots of men in dresses,” Westwood told AFP.

“You’ve seen women for a hundred years in trousers but it’s all switched around equally now.”

Hywel Davies, fashion programme director at Central Saint Martins, revealed the co-ed trend makes both financial sense and reflects the industry’s openness to change.

“It is about the industry looking how to best present their vision and putting mens and women show together makes commerce sense,” he told AFP. Why pay for two shows when you can communicate your message in one?”
