The NEWGEN sponsorship scheme was set up by the British Fashion Council to provide funding and mentoring to those designers destined for greatness. This season, a total of eight menswear designers have been awarded the sponsorship, allowing them to grow from an independent label to a fully-fledged brand. They range from the artistically-minded Charles Jeffrey to A-COLD-WALL*’s urban tailored looks that have gone way beyond streetwear. Continuing to pioneer the modern man’s wardrobe is Grace Wales Bonner whose African roots are beautifully translated into detailed designs. Liam Hodges – the face known for missing a front tooth – also returns to the impressive NEWGEN line-up and is likely to showcase yet another tough political collection.
