Lil Yachty's Nike Air Force 1 is a Concrete Classic
It's been over a year since Lil Yachty first teased his collaboration with the Swoosh.
On 15 November 2023, to be exact (source: this very Insta post).
You'd think it's past its expiry date what with the current state of fashion.
However, since the popular Atlanta-based rapper embraced Nike's reliably relevant classic, the Air Force 1, as opposed to something more of the moment, the sneak is still just as coveted as it was 12 months ago.
We bring it up since it's finally launching beyond Yachty's close circle (friends and family got it first!) on Monday 2 December.
As he should, the musician has kept the re-work simple. To salute his new hip-hop group, Concrete Boys – who formed at the beginning of the decade but officially signed to Yachty's own record label, Concrete Rekordz, and released their first album, It's Us Vol.1, earlier this year – he's embroidered the collective's construction worker logo onto the lateral sidewall, towards the heel, using navy thread.
This dark blue shade is matched on the outsole, the sockliner, the “It's Us” print, along with the Nike logo, on the tongue tab, the hang tab that matches the tongue tab, the Lil Yachty wordmark stitched onto the tongue's interior and additional Concrete Boys branding on the heel counter.
In a The Office-style short film created especially for the release, Lil Yachty and some fellow Concrete Boys – including Gio , Draft Day and Flage – sport the sneak for a work “picture day”.
Despite each member's differences, the special-edition Nike Air Force 1 manages to afford a sense of cohesion.
It's really one for everyone.
Lil Yachty's Concrete Boys Nike Air Force 1 is launching via raffles on End , SNS, Footpatrol , BSTN and more. RRP: £120.
