British actress and James Bond star Lashana Lynch is taking on her latest role of a tenacious MI6 agent hunting down a hitman in The Day of the Jackal.

Fierce investigator Bianca is in a global pursuit to catch the assassin known only as The Jackal, even at the determent of her personal life.

The new 10-part drama, which also stars Eddie Redmayne, is currently airing on Sky Atlantic with episodes available on NOW.

The actress is a rising star in TV and film thanks to some explosive roles and dramatic performances in recent years. But what do we know about the James Bond star's life off-screen?

Early life and career of Lashana Lynch

Lashana Lynch was born in Hammersmith on November 27, 1987 as her mother worked as a senior housing officer while her dad was employed as a social worker.

With Jamaican heritage, Lashana is the youngest of three siblings born in west London and she admitted to British Vogue she "only felt British outside the house".

She added the rest of the time it was "Jamaican language, food and discipline, which is direct but calm".

While at primary school, Lynch decided she wanted to become an actor and joined various school plays. She attended ArtsEd school in London and went on to make her film debut in the 2012 movie Fast Girls.

Lynch has also appeared in small roles in The 7.39, Silent Witness, The Bill, Atlantis, Death in Paradise before she enjoyed a regular role in the comedy Crims.

After roles in Still Star-Crossed and Bulletproof, Lashana Lynch bagged her first major role as Maria Rambeau in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Captain Marvel . Lynch would reprise the role and play an alternative Captain Marvel in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

She bagged the role of Nomi in the latest James Bond movie No Time to Die, starring opposite Daniel Craig in his final film as the leading man.

In 2022, Lynch played hardened soldier and fierce fighter Izogie in The Woman King, who helps train newcomer Nawi as she learns the ropes of the Agojie.

Viewers may also recognise Lynch as Miss Honey in the film adaptation of Matilda: The Musical, and as Rita Marley in the 2023 biopic Bob Marley: One Love opposite Kingsley Ben-Adir.

She was awarded a distinction at the Black Women in Hollywood Awards in 2020 and later won the BAFTA Rising Star award in 2022.

Lashana Lynch is currently married to British actor Zackary Momoh. The actor has appeared on TV, film and on stage over the last 10 years, with notable roles in A United Kingdom, Netflix crime drama Seven Seconds and the HBO series The Nevers.

Momoh has also appeared in Death in Paradise, No Offence, Doctors and Holby City. The couple are expecting their first baby, but an exact due date is unknown.

They live a private life in the UK and there is not a lot known about the star couple.

At one point, the British actress had a popular Instagram page where she shared holiday photos, including her trip to film James Bond in Jamaica, as well as shots from the set of Captain Marvel and her co-stars.

She has since deactivated her Instagram account.
