Kourtney Kardashian shares rare condition son Rocky had that caused her to have emergency fetal surgery

Kourtney Kardashian has dramatically opened up on The Kardashians about having surgery to save the life of her then unborn baby - and has revealed exactly what happened.

In the most recent episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians, which was filmed last year, Kourtney was getting ready to give birth to her son. Speaking to the camera, Kourtney explained: “A couple months ago, we had a terrifying scare where I had to have emergency fetal surgery.”

The scene then cuts to Kourney star recovering from the surgery. Kourtney said: “Baby Rocky had to have fetal surgery for fluid in his lung. And it's super rare, that this [is] the condition that he had but it's also super rare and lucky that we caught it.

“And thank you, God, for this successful surgery. I'm honestly just so grateful, I have no words,' she gushed with relief.”

The show then cut to her speaking solo to the camera again where Kourtney continued to talk about how she was feeling during that scary time.

“I was definitely filled with fear after the surgery and the fluid in his lungs. Actually it did start coming back and then I watched this documentary called Heal that was all about the power of positive thinking and how our thinking can really affect our health.

“And then I started talking to the baby every day, saying my prayers, and after I had that mindset shift, the fluid was completely gone and we had not one single problem after.”

Luckily, the surgery was a success and Kourtney welcomed a baby boy, called Rocky Thirteen Barker, with her husband, Travis in November 2023.

Just a few months after giving birth, Kourtney had a photoshoot for The Kardashians. But shared some behind the scenes snaps and revealed she felt pressure to look a certain way.

The star, who is also mum to Mason, 13, Penelope, 11, and Reign, eight, wrote: "I was 3 months postpartum and not feeling quite ready for a big shoot like this where there's lots and lots of people watching me all day. And even though my baby boy was with me all day on set it's not the same when I'm covered in makeup, in high heels and wearing a dress versus our snuggly days at home in pyjamas."

Kourtney continued: "But something I've been doing lately is shifting my mindset and thinking of the positives! I am so blessed to be able to bring my baby to work. How fun to get to be glammed up when I've been home for months in pyjamas. How blessed to get to work alongside my sisters and mom...we really have so much fun together! What a beautiful life!".
