Kendrick Lamar’s Celine Jeans Were The Surprise Star Of His Super Bowl Halftime Show
During his history-making Super Bowl halftime performance, Kendrick Lamar wore a pair of Nike Air DT Max ’96s, a $68,000 Rahaminov brooch, and a pair of light-wash bootcut jeans. Inexplicably, it was the jeans that caught him the most attention. Amongst the many reactions to Lamar’s performance, a handful of topics came up repeatedly: the rapper’s choice to directly call out Drake, the target of his now-ubiquitous diss track 'Not Like Us'; Serena Williams and SZA joining him onstage; and the aforementioned jeans.

The flare jeans on Lamar—who stands at 5’5”—quickly went viral, with one user calling the halftime show the 'best ad for jeans I’ve seen in a while'.

As styled by Taylor McNeill, the rapper paired his Y2K-era denim with a custom Martine Rose varsity jacket with 'Gloria' spelled out across the front. (This was in reference to 'Gloria', the closing track on his most recent album, GNX.) The look came on the heels of Lamar’s similarly applauded Canadian tuxedo at the 2025 Grammys on Sunday, during which he won five golden gramophones for 'Not Like Us'.
Skinny jeans might be making a mid-2020s comeback, but if the rapper’s jeans are any indication, Alix Earle won’t be the ultimate authority in the long-running skinny vs. baggy debate. If Lamar has the final word—and, let’s be honest, his track record indicates he will—bootcut denim is here for the long haul.
