Kate Middleton has made a happy announcement: Her cancer is officially in remission, she said in a statement shared on January 14.

'It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal', she said in an Instagram post thanking the Royal Marsden, a specialist oncology hospital in London.

'I am, however, looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead', she continued. 'There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.'

In her statement, Kate also thanked everyone who has 'quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything'.

'We couldn’t have asked for more', she said. 'The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional.'

The Prince and Princess of Wales will both serve as Joint Patrons of The Royal Marsden going forward, she shared. 'My hope is, that by supporting groundbreaking research and clinical excellence, as well as promoting patient and family wellbeing, we might save many more lives, and transform the experience of all those impacted by cancer,' Kate wrote.

Kate first revealed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024 after tests following a planned abdominal surgery in January found that cancer had been present. She did not share the type, calling the diagnosis 'a huge shock'.

'William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,' she said. 'It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be okay.'

At the time, her doctor advised that she undergo 'a course of preventative chemotherapy', she shared in a video.

Since then, Kate has made a few public appearances, including at Wimbledon and Christmas Day church services. On September 9, she shared that she completed her chemotherapy and is focused on 'remaining cancer-free'.
