Kate Middleton Honors Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II With Pearls in Red Catherine Walker Coatdress on Commonwealth Day

Kate Middleton attended her latest public engagement on Monday alongside her husband, Prince William. The Princess of Wales joined members of the British royal family for Commonwealth Day services at Westminster Abbey in London, for which the royal styled sentimental accessories and a bright red coatdress.

Middleton wore a Catherine Walker coatdress in a shade of bright red with a twisted bow effect near the neckline. The slim-fitting dress featured circular buttons down the front placket and sharp shoulders with long sleeves and a midi length.

Middleton continued the red color motif throughout other elements of her attire, wearing a pair of Gianvito Rossi pointed-toe suede heels and carrying a small red clutch courtesy of Miu Miu. The Princess of Wales topped off her attire with a hat courtesy of Gina Foster in red.

When it came to her jewelry pieces, Middleton went the sentimental route, honoring both the late Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II. The Princess of Wales wore Queen Elizabeth II’s Japanese pearl choker, a piece she previously styled for the official royal welcome for the Amir of the State of Qatar to London in December 2024.

Along with the four-strand pearl necklace, Middleton wore the Collingwood earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana. The earrings’ design featured a tear-drop look with a white pearl and other sparkling stones.

Honoring both Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth II with her sartorial statements and her accessories is a wardrobe staple for Kate Middleton. The royal regularly finds opportunities to honor the two women with pieces in her royal wardrobe. Middleton previously wore Princess Diana’s Collingwood pearl drop earrings for Remembrance Day services in November 2024.
